Talk about optimistic, 4 or 5 points? Heady days indeed!RE 'Carry on performing like that and the points will come'
Whether you agree with that statement or not, what happens if they don't? We're now going into a month where we play 6 times including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United twice. If we fail to pick up a win against Forest or Brentford then we could be on 4 or 5 points going into 2026. What happens then? Do we start to think about sacking him? Do we give him a chance to try to bring in a few of his own players in January and see if that improves results? Or does he stay regardless?
I can't see the point in sacking him. We'll likely have a decision to make in the Summer because it's hard to picture us showing any encouragement at all, but I definitely feel like he took the job knowing it'd be about the Championship next season, young and hungry reset and all that bollocks
Talk about optimistic, 4 or 5 points? Heady days indeed!
If he's 8 games in with only 2 or 3 points to his name you've got to think about it surely?
I'd say hitting par for December is being able to have a goal of the month competition.I think Deutsch said that if we were halfway decent we'd be targeting the 3 home games this month. I don't think it's outrageous to expect a reasonable points return from December. It just won't happen though will it?
Nuno was also total chance - Lopetegui turned us down and (much like most of our best signings under Fosun) Mendes was able to float us one of the people within his network. Zero chance we would have sought him out otherwise.I don't think that edwards will go this season, regardless of the results tbh. I'm exceptionally doubtful that we're likely to do any meaningful business in january either tbh. Loans and/or journeymen is the best we can hope for.
Plucky spirit, and beating the promoted sides is about all we can hope for between now and May I suspect. Jeff going is the unrealistic ideal that we want.
Remember when people used to lol at watford and how bad they were with manager appointments? We're as bad. Nuno is a clear outlier.
Kenny Jackett lasted very briefly under fosun
Walter Zenga didn't last 3 months
Paul Lambert didn't last a season
Nuno Espírito Santo lasted 4 years, but the final few months his relationship with Jeff had broken down
Bruno Lage lasted 15 months, when most wanted him gone sooner, and only lasted that long because he was a patsy to jeff
Julen Lopetegui in theory lasted 9 months, however had informed Jeff when their relationship broke down he was off at the start of summer (after 6 months), and trained the squad through summer knowing he was off.
Gary O'Neil lasted 16 months, although Jeff is on record as saying he wished he'd sacked him sooner.
Vítor Pereira lasted 9 months
We are simply unable to make a decent appointment to the most important position in the club! We lucked out on one occasion. All the other appointments have zero strategy behind them, being cheap yes men in the main.
I think we all acknowledge that first bit. But if he loses the next 6 (not impossible, and I don’t mean that as a slight on him) where does that leave him? As we go into the transfer window and he’s lost all 8 games. He got the job ready for a rebuild in the Championship next season. RE knows it, Shi knows it, we all know it. He's obviously not going to say that publicly, though.
Absolutely no way he gets sacked, regardless of results for the remainder of the season. We've already seen a slight improvement since he took over - and there's only so much he can do with this shite squad.
We didn't win a league game for 6 months under Vitor and he was still here. RE isn't getting sacked this season.I think we all acknowledge that first bit. But if he loses the next 6 (not impossible, and I don’t mean that as a slight on him) where does that leave him? As we go into the transfer window and he’s lost all 8 games.
