Relegation run in 22/23 ** Now a Wolves free zone**

They’ve had a comparatively easy run of games though; Bournemouth, Saints, Leeds, Leicester, Chelsea (!)

February/ March looks a lot tougher.
They are the games that keep you up though

Yep it’s just stupidity not realising humans as species are acclimatised within a week of being in unfamiliar weather conditions.
Stereotyping in football is laughable at times, Germans= mentally tough but no flare
French= skilled but erratic
Spain, Italy, Portugal= skill full, weak and cheats
South America= same as above
Not sure about a week.

I have been in Spain for 4 years, this is the first winter I have been fucking cold in 15 degrees wearing a Fleece and jeans instead of T-shirt and Shorts . All the ex pats in Spain say it takes 3 or 4 years, but people need to remember the climate in the South of Spain is fucking different to the North.of Spain and Portugal

Acclimatised as in you can work and survive in it not talking about sun bathing or climbing Everest.
After about a week did you find you could work and manage to a similar level as the local population?
If yes then that’s acclimated, whether it’s comfortable or not is a different matter.
Same way British people have a lot of rain doesn’t mean we like it be we just live with it.

Had a chance to look back at some of the highlights from last weekends matches and last night . Highlights can be misleading mind you .

I thought Villa's defending was dreadful for Leicester's goals . Villa has won a fair few matches since Emery arrived , but they still look quite beatable .
Newcastle - they are still conceding very few goals , but they are not scoring that many since the resumption . You'd wonder have they peaked already . West Ham didn't exactly batter them , but Newcastle didn't have that many clear cut chances .
Bournemouth - thought they did well against Brighton away , had a great shout for a penalty that wasn't given and created a few other chances as well . They're not done yet based on that , or is it that Brighton are on the far side of the hill as well as Newcastle .
Leeds - did fine last night and got the point , dominated Forest but could not score . On the face of it they look good enough to stay up .
Everton obviously did the Dyche thing , kept it tight , chased Arsenal all over the place and got their one goal .

This relegation battle is fascinating . I think the likes of Brighton , Newcastle , Villa and Fulham will start to give up points to the lower ranked teams and that'll spice things up nicely .

Palace too - were not playing well , but seemed to have steadied recently .

One thing we need are consecutive wins , maybe even 3 in a row . February is massive as others have repeatedly said .

After today's game it struck me just how many points we've gained recently compared with the teams around us.

Starting from the loss to Arsenal at the World Cup break, I did the maths.

Now bear in mind that this is across only 7 games for all teams except Everton who have played six.

TeamPoints gained/lost
Crystal Palace7
Leicester6
Bournemouth11
Leeds9
Aston Villa0
West Ham7
Everton9
Nottingham Forest2
Southampton10

Incredibly, we've gained an average of 6.8 points more than every other team in the bottom half - or just under a point a game.

That's just a phenomenal return realistically just from changing the manager. I doubt we'll be able to keep up that rate of change, but it's something that I found interesting. Not long back, everyone was on about just how well Villa have been doing, but we've matched them and gained huge points on pretty much everyone else.

Palace have been awful for months now - could easily get dragged into it.

6 points from 8 games since Xmas, it's not great, but the cushion they started with they'll be fine if they keep on at that rate and end up with about 37pts

Well West Ham & Palace should be both a point worse off than they’re after yesterday’s VAR shambles.
Hard to estimate how much you’ll need to stay up I think proof will be if Everton win is just a flash in the pan or genuine revival.

Beat Bournemouth next week we will be looking at only one place remaining to worry about..
