REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

In any event, why is it such a stretch to believe that up to half the population are idiots? I'd put the figure much higher than that, and it'd include people with every conceivable view on the topic of Europe.

I was quoting Professor Dougan. *He* thinks you're all morons. I, on the other hand, think you must all be incredibly thoughtful rocket scientists.

He never used that phrase. It was you that used the word moron. Puerile and dismissive of the opinion of over 50% of those that voted.

What arrogance

As an aside. There was a council by election in Guildford and Mole Valley last night. Not a huge affair of course but the first test of politics post Brexit. The number of votes was tiny, but the result was interesting.

Liberals won by 27 percentage points. Huge swing to them from the Conservatives.

What arrogance

Are we really doing this again.

We don't like the result.

You think we are twats for not liking it.

We think the leave vote was to a high percentage stupidity based.

So that's that stated again. Let's fucking move on.

We don't like the result. I know that

You think we are $#@!s for not liking it. Not true, you are entitled to your opinion

So that's that stated again. Let's $#@!ing move on. You need to tell So Long Architect

I would love to move on from unnecessary remarks and insults. Please.

My point is the argument is entrenched and therefore just becomes circular. Of course I over-stated the positions to try and make the point, but we both totally agree on the best final thing - we move on. Thoughts on what was (I freely admit) a very small by election? Even in such a tiny vote, the rise in Liberal vote is interesting in post-Brexit politics. Maybe the Liberal party isn't quite as dead as I and many thought?

at this moment in time they are the only party with a clear idea and no infighting. They will get a big swing right now from a lot of those that voted to remain, due to their promise that they will put the UK back in the EU.
Test for them and their stance comes when the Cons & Labour have at least sorted out their leadership stuff.

Paddy, I didn't even know we were having an election down here. Have you got a link?

I saw it on Farron's twitter feed this morning (my wife follows him). I was surprised but from what I can make out it was yesterday. A very small sample indeed so I wouldn't read too much into the level of swing. I just thought it was interesting.

Do we get a referendum after general general election then?

Come to think of it, can we replay Iceland, as we didn't llike the result?

What are you wittering about? I pointed out an (admittedly) small by election. The first since Brexit. There was a swing to Liberal.

As Kenny says, they have indicated they want back in.

The two may be related. They may not.

Nothing of the above is asking for another referendum at all. I am just interested in how the landscape may be over the next few months and years.
