REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Here's a low level disbenefit of brexit:

Last yeat I bought some running shoes from Brooks (delivered from Germany). I tried them out didn't like them and so returned them, nice and easy - print out returns form and stick on the box, take to post office send back and await the money.

Post Brexit is very similar EXCEPT, I now have to fill in a CN23 form (probably should have been the Cn22 form due to value but the form I wa given was the cn23). I had to work out how to fill it in (not sure I got it correct) take to the PO and stand there whilst they tried to work out the correct process to send and now I have to wait to see if/when it clears customs before I can get my money back.

All in all it's probably an addition of 25 minutes to a previously 5 minute process. Imagine that on every export!

"Losing side"

I'd rather the country where I live (and from which I now have fewer chances to leave, thanks to this nonsense) didn't go down the pan to be honest mate, but you have your "win".
I’m sure no one wants it to “go down the pan”, but people have different views on the future and how things should be done. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you shouldn’t be scared of differing views.

I’m sure if you want to leave, there are still ways to do so.

and the data shows that exports are not approaching death, and that how it’s all going to work out isn’t yet clear as it’s still under two months into a new system with lots of variables.

Anyway, time to put my daughter to bed - I wish you all a pleasant and strop free evening 👍

We are not subject to new rules on off-shore tax havens. That’s a huge plus if you are Tory doner..

Just the latest numbers

7.5% of the EU population have received a vaccine dose compared with 94.8% in Israel and 31% in the UK.

The uptake of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine in France stood at 24% as of 28 February, a health ministry official said on Tuesday, well below the country’s target of between 80 and 85%. Authorities are fighting convince more people that a jab from the British-Swedish giant is just as effective as others.

Yep. Absolutely sweet FA to do with Brexit as has been explained multiple times to no avail.

Happy to move it to the coronavirus thread if that’s a better place for it?

Although the vaccine rollout clearly is to do with brexit, as has been clearly explained multiple times.

I’ve spent years explaining why the colour white is actually black. Despite my numerous explanations it’s still clear I was talking absolute horseshit.

If your argument was that the vaccine rollout would have been the same if we were still part of the EU, then yeah absolutely?

How has the EU vaccine rollout got anything to do with Brexit? I don’t think the EU have left the EU.

And we would be doing the vaccine rollout exactly as we are now were we still in under our terms of membership that we had.

He’s only mentioned it in this thread because he can’t give any actual positive impacts of Brexit.
Too early to know Dan, too early. Come back in 30 years. It's for the good of the nation in the long run, a selfless act putting our yet to be born grandchildren first knowing that we may suffer in the short to medium term but the long term benefits when we are dead and not accountable will be worth it

The benefits are intangible, but benefits nonetheless.

I’ll go over again as it’s obviously tricky.

All the eu members are part of the eu vaccine programme.

if we were in the eu, we would be part of the eu vaccine programme.

the eu vaccine programme has been hit by issues, meaning they are way behind the uk.

the uk is so far ahead because they were not in the eu vaccine programme.

let me know if that’s still too complicated?

Yet, when you first said it, I posted a fact check to that saying that in extreme circumstances ie a pandemic nations could opt out and approve and purchase vaccines outside of the EU. We could have done that without Brexit. Whether we would have done is debatable

I'm glad you foresaw a global pandemic that would arise in 2020 in 2016, how lucky we were.

Shame it fucks everything else up but there you go.
