REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Appreciated the reply. This place gets far too egocentric with a loose splattering of 'worship me' type sentiment among a few. The sheep here just carry favour with them to be 'included'. I feel any progressive society must be 'expert laden' but the problem for the proles in terms of representation is not necessarily an education but a blatant attempt through Parliament to reverse a decision they were invited to make. Farage wanker will exploit this but as you know I much prefer socila justice to the corporate centralisation that is premised by the EU club.

I see a lot of anti- this forum there, but not a lot of substance of what you actually want with the anarchist point of view.

What does 'expert-laden' mean? What does 'social justice' mean? What does 'corporate centralisation' mean?

Let's have a chat about what these things are, and then I understand much better where you are coming from.

If you are going down that route then you have to include some idealistic, wholly unrealistic and utopian views and attitudes that the country is just not ready for. Until 55% Countries wealth is not in the hands of the 1% then Utopian ideals that are central to modern socialism cannot be brought to the fore in my view. I would love to see more socialist policies and it being more about the country looking after its people but no one seems prepared to pay for it.We are still lost in the ridiculous myth that low taxes are the answer while millions who can afford it pay no taxes. It is why Labour needed to realise that their approach to brexit and government was stand walk run not all behind JC whatever. You need strong foundations and strong infrastructure and that investment has not been there this century because "we are a country of low taxes"

Good luck with that.

Can kicked until the end of Jan, unless we get Johnson's deal through Parliament beforehand

I look forward to visiting the ditch that Johnson will soon be lying face down in.

This broken Johnson promise may well tighten the votes up.

Westminster voting intention...

if "the deadline for the UK to leave the EU has been extended beyond the 31st of October 2019":

LAB: 27%
CON: 26%
BREX: 20%
LDEM: 18%
GRN: 4%

via ComRes, 16 - 17 Oct

Sky ran a poll yesterday on a simple who will you vote for at the GE and Tories had 40%, Labour 26%

I don't think there's ever going to be a decent time for Remain to fight an election any time soon (short of Corbyn and his cadre being defenestrated and Labour settling into a coherent Brexit strategy), but I see value in the Lib Dems' strategy here- get the elections on their own terms, and without Johnson's WAB conditions attached, and take the fight to him.

Labour's strategy of ignoring the chance for an election was only so much stalling for time- it was worthwhile to avoid No Deal this week, but the longer it went on the more it was going to hurt them.

Nice to see Boris opening his little debate and then walking out of the Chamber while the SNP leader was speaking.

He is such a petulant child.

The Lib Dem bill to be put forward tomorrow....however in true Boris form he has told the Lib Dems one thing but will be putting forward a different version, which puts in doubt the chances of it winning by the 1 vote needed.

I will laugh my tits off if he loses a simple majority vote and still can't have his election.

Good point made in an article I read earlier. He keeps banging on about how this Parliament has "served its purpose". Er, no, it's not even halfway through what's supposed to be its lifespan. You mean they won't do what you want, which is not the same thing.

Irony being of course that if Dishface hadn't brought in a dreadful piece of legislation in the FTPA just so his coalition couldn't be knocked over inside months, he could have his election.

Ok, but where do we go if he doesn't?

1) He'll have to stop being a child, put his WA back to Parliament to the stage whereby any amendments can be proposed, which probably means either Customs Union and/or Second Ref being tacked on if he wants it to pass. Probably also have to make some commitment on workers' rights too.

2) He'll carry on being a child, and basically nothing will happen now until mid-January, when we dance the same dance with the EU (how willing they are to endlessly kick the can down the road by three months every three months, we'll see).

He will only put a vote for an election before parliament. Every day. For three months.

Nothing else will happen at all.

His style of leadership is just so odd. Hectoring and bullying really isn't going to be a winning strategy when you have a majority of -43. He's turning Javid into a eunuch of a Chancellor too, he keeps cancelling everything he's about to do and never lets him talk about the economy :icon_lol: He may as well not be there (I don't feel sorry for him, he's a dickhead).

He wants to shout very loudly that he is being prevented from governing by the nasty MPs.

It's all very Trumpian.

Operation Yellowhammer stood down. As have the extremely cheap and excellent value for money adverts.
