Because the narrative that we are being controlled and oppressed by the EU, fighting for our freedom has been repeated so often enough people believe it and therefore are prepared to accept the type of hardship associated with war - or at least are saying they are.

So, as per usual, a toryboy has turned the whole thing into being about him. Not one mention of how it has adversely affected the country, or people. Not a single word about his epic failure. Not a single word about how he never needed to call the referendum in the 1st place.

Then the prick goes to play on the fact his son died, after implementing austerity politics that has resulted in tens of thousands of avoidable/early deaths.
