REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

She loses confidence she will be removed immediately by her own party, or alternatively, Corbyn could, if the defeat was bad enough (it won't be) could go directly to the Queen.
They can't, they failed before Xmas, cant have another pop for a year as per the Conservative Party Constitution and he can't as she has two weeks to go back to Parliament and try again as per the Fixed Term Parliament Act

The Whips will tell her to resign if they need to. Either that or there is a second vote of no confidence nearer the 29 March disaster area and then the Conservative remainers come on board.

That's why I think JRM's lot go against her this time. Defeat her now and she has 2 weeks to offer them No Deal and get their support.

The state of these fucking DUP cunts on sky news. Imagine being blackmailed by imbeciles.

Her deal is so dead it is a fucking fossil.

She needs to stop being idiotically stubborn and needs to go now.

Well - who knew that getting into bed with a bunch of religious ideologues that would happily have a hard border as they want Ireland back in about the 1974 configuration would cause a massive issue?

Having those types in control of a vote by being the casting vote is a bit of a nightmare.

Downing Street indicates that the EU withdrawal bill itself is not going to be changed.

Asked if it is dead or a ‘Zombie deal’ that will come back to life, No 10 says: ‘It remains the only deal on the table’

Fucking buffoons.

History says that doing the same things and expecting a different outcome is really dense. So we waste another week...

So if Corbz loses the confidence vote against the worst government in modern history is he toast?

They both should go. May herself has framed the 2017 GE result as a mandate to deliver Brexit. She manifestly can't and has suffered literally the worst defeat in Parliamentary history. There clearly is no other plan. Quite aside from her Government actually being found in contempt of Parliament and a multitude of other sins, that is enough on its own to go.

And if Corbyn can't beat that shambles of a Government which is only being held together by string and some creationist Ulstermen, and he also doesn't have a plan, he should go as well.

It's honestly like watching a football match where the two managers are Dean Saunders and Dean Saunders.

People, particularly EU citizens who have made their home here and UK citizens living in the EU, deserve clarity on these questions as soon as possible....

Strange that she had the chance to do this from day one. yet was unwilling to do so. If she had the vote before Christmas they'd be closer to knowing by now. Trying to put pressure on the house now is beyond a joke considering all the fucking about she's been doing over the last two and half years.

A victory for Corbyn would be to lose the confidence vote but gain a Brexit close to his own terms. If he wins the confidence vote and an election is called he has a job on his hands to go over the heads of his members to campaign on a leaving the EU ticket.

That would rely on May cutting at least two, probably more, of her stupid red lines. That isn't going to happen.

And it would still be shit.

The prime minister’s spokesman told journalists:

We want to identify what would be required to secure the backing of the House consistent with what we believe to be the result of the referendum.

We want to leave with a deal and we want to work with others who share that.

The spokesman declined to be drawn on whether the talks would include Jeremy Corbyn. On this point he said:

Let’s not pre-empt talks before they have happened. We will look to engage widely with people we believe share our objectives.

So she wants to negotiate a deal that she believes in what the referendum result was and doesn't want to involve Corbyn. I presume that she'll be looking at the likes of Nandy etc in the Labour Party but what she might be failing to realise is that there is another 100 odd others she needs to bring on board. I can't see it happening unless the backstop is taken off the table.

A five year transition period?

It's where she collapsed on her strategy, this was in her 'no deal is better than a bad deal phase' that nobody believed in. She then evolved to her 'any deal is better than no deal' phase.

Its beyond a joke now.

At least that shit deal is toast!

Its now new deal, no deal or stay.

Agreed. Starmer would actually be decent now.

I think the two big parties will have new leaders in a matter of months.
