REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Rumours of Tory MPs circulating an early day motion of No Confidence in the Speaker. Large numbers of them are seething that the Grieve amendment was allowed.

ChukaUmunna
In the Commons chamber now watching the spectacle of a bunch of Tory MPs, who argued for Brexit to reassert Parliamentary sovereignty, now objecting to the Speaker selecting a motion to be voted on that would empower the House of Commons. An ugly, lorry load of hypocrisy.

You could put up a motion to extend Article 50 in such a scenario to ensure that it doesn't happen.

That's still an agreement to do something different though isn't it? Unless they agree on something, whether that be a deal, a delay or cancelling it all together, then no deal will happen by default.

MP's now voting on the Grieve amendment to force the PM (or whoever is in charge then) back to the house within 3 days with a Plan B, rather than the 21 days that I think is currently in place.

Andrea Ledsom complaining about MP's being given a vote. You really couldn't make this shit up.

Agreed.

It's almost like we haven't debated this at all. Theresa May is not going to let the Country get into a No Deal exit as the results would end her career and those of most of her MP's. It's all brinksmaship to get her deal over the line.

She will either cancel it altogether (unlikley) or extend A50. The EU and various leaders have said there is no other deal to be had so she can't promise a new deal. Nowhere else to go.

And the Grieve amendment passes. All going a bit pear-shaped for T-Bag

Serves her right, she's treated the whole thing as some kind of parlour game. I mean it's not her fault that she's totally inept at this job, but it is her fault that she's a cunt.

right up there with kate hooey arguing another referendum would be anti-democracy. How can a democratic vote be anti-democracy FFS?

CHAOS!!

How petulant. I'm sure leaving the lock gates open will be felt deeply in parliament.

This fucking idiot.

UK farmers can do this because the EU made a trade deal with Japan. Nothing to do with the DIT. And we don't have that deal in three months, as it stands.

Just seen Jezza's video calling for an election assuming T-Bag loses her vote.

And it's annoyed me.

1. If they were to win the GE (which I doubt they will), they want to go back to the negotiations - but haven't the EU already made it very fucking clear that they're not going to give us anything more than what's already on the table? Why would they go back on this just because it's a new government?

2. Surely delaying it EVEN FUCKING FURTHER is just going to harm businesses who are already in a state of limbo as these farcical situations continue, with no meaningful resolution in sight?

How about they stop fucking around? Getting rid of the Tories is one thing, but I fail to understand the point of doing so if it's just going to lead to - at best - a diluted Brexit following yet more delays?

Not that i think Jezza will get anywhere but he has committed to staying in the customs union - this opens up other negotiation options on both sides.

Delaying it absolutely is better for business when the alternative is no deal.
