REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

But in list of people that could actually improve the current situation, he's up there. For the avoidance doubt, May is genuinely evil, Johnson is a liar who thinks it's all a game, jrm is a detestable posh, hypocritical cunt, garage is a racist. Bit of balance there at least.

DUP have said they would support her in a no confidence vote as long as she doesn't try and get her deal through. They've gone no deal.

What's the point of being in opposition if you're just an idle spectator? Why doesn't he outright back a people's vote rather than pointlessly repeating that the government should "step aside"? The House is probably 80% remainers, if he called no confidence and pledged PV, he'd breeze it

No he wouldn’t. That’s just fantasy. The DUP won’t countenance a second referendum if it could end up resulting in any version of the PMs deal and probably wouldn’t support a second vote in any case. Pretty much the whole of the Conservative MPs wouldn’t vote for a Corbyn government even if they wanted a second vote.

Where and how could Corbyn possibly win a no confidence vote without the DUP either abstaining or voting against the government? The Labour Party’s tactics have been pretty consistent, they only put down notions they are confident they will win so if they aren’t putting in a no confidence vote it’s because they know they can’t win it.

(In no order):

Dacre
Murdoch
Banks
Farage
Cameron
Osborne
Fox
Davis
Johnson
May

As well as the genuinely thick as pigshit lunatics like IDS, JRM, Redwood, Cash, Patel, Leadsom, Grayling etc. Two and a half years of them.

J-Corbz is not just going to bat them all down on his own, it's not realistic. There has to be some form of a strategy.

I wholeheartedly do not agree with his stance, I cannot stand his prat of a Shadow Chancellor and they have not done enough. To claim that you just rock up one day and get us back to some form of reality is not going to happen though.

So "wait quietly until everything is fucked and it's too late to change anything" is the best option then? What the fuck am I missing? :icon_lol:

There are a lot of things he could do (and could have done since 2016), your plan is not one of them.

I'm not being sarky BTW, I legit don't get why he's being so passive when faced with a piss weak government

He wants out of the EU, safest way to get that reality is sit and do nothing whilst someone else carries the can, then he can ride in on his magic carpet to save the country from doom.

Ok, well he shouldn't have waved through A50, that was absolutely ridiculous and we could have maybe avoided a lot of this shit. Just to pick one example from the past.

Right now he should be full square behind a second ref at very least (I don't personally want one as people are stupid and referenda are dreadful, just cancel the fucking thing). Challenge the "will of the people" nonsense properly. Again, just to pick one example.

TSB is right, as of today they would not win a NC vote. Tories will go so far - as they have since the WA was struck - but fundamentally they will always go party over country. They're still spooked by the party splitting nearly 200 years ago. If they weren't of that mindset, then May would have struggled to last three months as she is comically awful at everything.

She'll get nothing substantive back from the EU - this is just delaying the inevitable. Leo Varadkar said that it was 'her red lines' that have brought both sides to this position. She's so in thrall to the 50 odd cretins who've always hated the EU that she can't possibly negotiate anything that would get cross party support. Major was always portrayed as weak yet he was the only Tory leader that ever stood up to these pricks.

Red lines that she laid down for no real reason after a handful of days in office. Red lines that were clearly ridiculous, right from day one.

A Nick Timothy masterstroke there.

The whole premise of having to leave the single market and customs union was bollocks from the start. I vividly remember being sat in a motorway service station dumb struck listening to her spout on as she made the speech. I could almost hear the death knell sounding.

By the way, at that point it wasn't so much the wingnuts within the party that she was in thrall to. It was Dacre, the massive fucking cunt. Win the Mail over and they'll win you the power, so the theory went.

He could actually be the worst person in Britain, and Ian Huntley isn't dead yet.

When you listen to the reaction to her speech, they were all just laughing at her.

Christ, the leader of the country is the object of ridicule.
