REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

I keep reading about all these right wing think tanks and they are very guarded about their funding, although a large chunk seems to come from overseas. Many of the same people overlap these different groups (including our Leave supporting MPs) and they are all trying to wield their influence over Brexit.

Interesting EU opinion from the case brought by Scottish MEPs. It isn't binding, but 99% of the time these opinions are followed.

Any country in a withdrawal process may unilaterally choose to stop that withdrawal process without the need for consent of the other 27 nations, at any time until the enactment of the Withdrawal Agreement.

Green Light to stop it is available any time up to March 29 then.

Smacks of desparation doesn't it?

Not really. Getting a ruling on the unilateral nature of the point is actually very relevant. Especially seeing as the government is telling everyone that the UK has a unilateral withdrawal agreement from the backstop. If that is the case, why did the government appeal this ruling originally, to say that it doesn't have a unilateral right elsewhere in the negotiations?

Further to the above, it sets out the ground for what will happen if T-Bag loses and then there is a vote of no confidence. If the opposition are allowed to try and form a government, then there is time for such a unilateral halt to Article 50 to allow the new incumbents to work out what the fuck to do, or to call a referendum with the correct notice, etc etc etc. That would also apply if the loss of this vote led to an immediate general election and the Conservatives did not come out of that poll in power.

We can stop the clock to avoid going headlong over a cliff.

kate hooey just said another vote would be a dark day for democracy. probably with absolutely no amount of self awareness.

The Government amendment has been defeated. 311 votes to 307.

Theresa May is certainly making history.

Government found in contempt as well. So the full advice will now be released tomorrow.

Oh - and the TV debate is almost certainly off. Good

government also got stuffed on the Grieve amendment. Parliament really taking back control.

Wat. She's actually just said words to the effect of 'at a time when this house needs to focus on the national interest, he is insistent on a general election that will waste crucial time'. Yeah, may said that. May. Who called a pointless general election that wasted crucial time

hmmmmmm

Most of the debate from her seems to be "this is the deal...national interest...respect the 52%....but labour....but labour...but labour"

It won't wash. She's going to lose the vote by a huge margin.

Almost as if she's an absolute joke.

Watching C4 news and the article on Tim Martin the Wetherspoons owner. Every one of his supporters were old codgers who haven't a clue about what happens when we leave the EU. They were adamant a no deal would be the best solution.

The sheer stupidity of these individuals was staggering. The sad thing is most of these morons don't realise the benefits the EU has done for them for their lifetimes. They bought into the garbage that food prices would be lower and everything will be better with no proof asto how this mythical status will be achieved.

Most of these people had no clue what the EU did. Thankfully if there were riots on reversal of A50 the only thing these people could throw is up.

I don't think it is going to make it to a vote. The whole thing is absolutely hopelessly holed below the waterline if the Hilary Benn amendment passes as well. That totally kills no deal and this deal, even more than the Grieve amendment that has passed today.

If that gets through she almost has to scrap it and start again, or resign.

No wonder they didn't want that advice published.

It is NI in a permanent customs union with a border down the Irish Sea.
