REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Do I sell some euros now or wait to see how far the pound falls before the end of the day? Decisions decisions.

You have been proved right. I never wanted to leave the EU. I wanted us to be in step with the EU which we clearly were not and it was getting worse. I felt it was only a matter of time before it all fell apart. My answer risks being repetitive so its probably best to summarise in two lines.

Did I agree with the EEC and its principles? Largely yes
Did I agree with the EU and its principles- often no

So to keep me happy we need to go back to an ethos more akin to the EEC than the driection taken by the EU.

Thank you, very succinct and kind of where I am too

Cyber, in the unlikely event of a second referendum, how do you think you would vote? Though I find it hard to work out what the options might be at the moment.

It cant be a binary vote

If it were a PR vote with the folloiwng options I would vote as below

Hard Brexit

Soft Brexit x 1
Remain uncondiotionally

Remain with conditions* x 2

I never saw the sense of throwing the baby away with the bath water. I see much that benefitted us. But they couldnt quite get where we wanted to be and it wasnt in tune with their end game. Pwerhaps after 2 years of the worst political cock up in history there will be enough momentum in the EU and UK to ensure it never happens again.

* Conditions that Cameron tried and failed to get agreed before the brexit vote pretty much. With those conditions I think the country would have voted remain . Camerons abject failure in the February to achieve anything like the conditions he wanted was seen by a number of on the fence voters as further evidence of the EU "lording it" over the UK

If its another binary vote I abstain. I cant vote remain without seeing change. I cant vote leave again without seeing substance.

I think any second referendum would almost certainly be tripartate rather than binary

a) take this deal

b) no deal hard brexit with the obvious consequences

c) remain

Getting those conditions you allude to cyber could only really be done by negotiating from inside the union if c) was the result of the vote.

Why is them saying no to further concessions 'lording' it? We were already afforded plenty of preferential treatment with the euro and schengen

Another resignation to be announced.

What will the total be today? I'll go for 5.

seen as lording it.

They misread the mood

They had clearly had enough of the UK and its objections and opt outs.

They wanted to show that they were clear in their direction and so gave little or nothing to Cameron.

As a result they were seen as Lording it." Unelected officials telling us what to do" Pretty much word for word what was coming out of every speech post Camerons attempt for those supporting leave.

So when people felt backed into a corner they voted. And they voted out. It was a huge gamble and has caused chaos but I totally see why it was done.

This will either be political suicide or political cowardice on a scale never before seen.

No confidence vote today

General election

Get them out

Get a coalition in.

Get some sense going forward and learn from the last 2 years.

Leadsom should go to. Her red lines from her Sunday interview on FiveLive have been crossed.

Surely its the end for this Government? It had little credibility, little mandate and has to go?

It'll be the end of May, what happens after that depends on who replaces her. A hard right Brexiter will probably go to the country for a mandate to go no deal.

SLA I would hold on to those Euros for a week or two. You may make a few quid.
