I don't want to see Dave flipping Edwards in the advanced midfield role again.
It baffles me that every time we are on Sky, whoever it is doing the punditry, waxes lyrical over Dangerous (I believe he's had at least three special little features before our live games this season). More often than not they will pick up on his "predatory instincts" inside the box. That he's "one of the best in the division at arriving late in the box and getting on the end of crosses". For me, it stinks of lack of research. They just see his goals total and assume the rest.
Don't get me wrong - I don't mind Edwards and have nothing against him if he's played in one of the two deeper roles - but for some reason, Lambert (and countless others before him) seem to think he's this worldly creative midfielder - capable of pulling all the strings in behind the forward. He's not. I've seen more than enough of him there to realise he isn't - we ALL have - so please don't play him there again.
What's the deal with Iorfa? Is he injured? Or just being punished in some unfathomable way by Lambert for having a few below par games? We can all see Coady is an obvious weak link - his delivery is worse than pub level, and although he does a job defensively, it needs freshening up.
Likewise with Saiss, I've heard the rumours that he just isn't PL's cup of tea and won't be picked ahead of the many other central midfielders we have - even though most of them are shite.
Williamson was on the bench v Blues, so that means he's fit. Get the man in the starting 11, and play Hause next to him. The perfect mixture of experience and potential.
For me, Quirk got it spot on with his opening post. Our strongest 11 on paper is -
Ikeme
Iorfa (If Fit) - Williamson - Hause - Doherty
Price - Saiss
Costa - Bright - Weimann
