Pre-season friendly thread

Surely part of pre-season is getting a feel for the players you have too - who can play it, who can’t, so on. We all know we need new players, but it isn’t the time to write off the system when we’ve played it for three games…
I've not done that, my post literally says that

We aren’t going to start the season with Mosquera and Saiss at centre back (if we do, then I’ll worry!). The signing in that position will be very important though.

He shouldn't need friendlies to see that 4-4-2 won't work with this squad. Anyone could have told him that.

Probably wants to make his own decisions on the weaknesses and strengths of the squad than listen to Gary from Bilston though…

We all know we need to sign some players but anyone taking anything serious from this game needs to give their head a wobble imo. This team would never play in the league and they’re clearly shattered from the double sessions and games close together. You can just see it in their decision making and the fact they slowed down massively in the last 10 minutes of the half.

Still think we need to wait until competitive games start before we can judge Bruno and his ideas.

This all over

if he wants to play this way we need about 4 new players for the 11 as we don't have the personnel to play like this

Tbf we didn't with Nuno when he was trying his 'transition' and it didn't stop him

Well said Slink. There were positive things to take from the previous friendly against Betis, there may not be with this friendly - that’s how pre-season works really.

This all over

Thought it looked obvious. Saw the comments on twitter/Facebook and expected more reasonable comments on here but clearly not. Mikey Burrows just confirmed they have trained this morning too which I thought they would have but i bet that was a really tough session. We’re definitely going to press more this season so we need to be fitter.

Kilman at left back, Marques at centre back. Gibbs-White on in midfield too. Same two up top

Cundle on the right again too. Obvious where the gaps in the squad are anyway.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read that’s how Bruno trains. Shorter sessions but considerably more intense to build fitness.

Could we see maybe Dadashov after about 60 mins for Cutrone or Silva maybe? Would like to see how he plays

How Bruno trains won't be especially different to Nuno, tbh, as it will be tactical periodisation. The things the work on and the way they want to play, of course. So there will be that continuity for the players as opposed to if we'd given an English coach the job, for example.

damn, tv channel stopped working..maybe god is looking after me :)

Lovely goal, back in it.
