However, as and when my companion goes to the great kennel in the sky (which I hope is a long time away as I adore him), I will do exactly what I did before, and head for Sunnyside (after a period of getting over it) and pick the rescue dog that hits me in the heart and that wants me too (it was my family too with Tyler but that will be irrelevant when the time comes). The state of ears will not affect the decision.
The most important thing is giving a rescue dog a truly loving home. It's something that has been so rewarding about welcoming Tyler and his lovely floppy ears into the family.
