PNE (H) 6/5/17 build up + match thread

FT 1-0.

Hurrah...

I guess.

So Blackburn relegated and Newcastle champions

.......and we miss 14th by 1 goal

Hope they offer Silvio a new contract on reduced terms even if it's cover clearly he's a better option than Gloves. Glad to see Graham getting an assist will be great to have him from the start of next season.

Now the fun begins!!

So floppy chops redknapp gets his bonus in a brown envelope and clears off back to Dorset then,no doubt the media will be saying he's a genius for keeping them up

Completely forgot that this was happening (though that's probably not surprising) - was doing more important/exciting tasks in weeding the front garden & preparing a Beef Bourguinon which I will enjoy later.

Sounds as if Graham did well & if Zyro can come back next season as well maybe we won't miss Costa quite as much (& we have to assume that he will not be here). At least the price we will want for him will allow us to deal with some of the glaring holes in other positions.

Still am coming up for the more important game tomorrow evening.

Silvio is obviously seen as a RB, that is his natural side in all fairness. Doherty and Iorfa will be seen as the RB with Silvio deemed surplus. I don't agree but that's what it will be.

After watching the game today i still maintain that it will be a mistake to let Silvio go. I know he might not stay fit but if he does we will not sign a better full back, he just oozes class. He linked excellently first half with Saiss and Graham and all 3 were stand outs for the first 45 minutes but Graham tired significantly and drifted out of the game second half.

Bright should have scored twice but somehow hit the post and then hit Maxwell after he had sat him down, if he improves on his end product the kid will be good. There's times when he gets the ball in and around the box and there's no way any of the defenders are going to take it off him. I was in favour of sending him out on loan but i think he needs to be playing here next season as he is capable of stepping up.

I know it was the last game and Preston weren't great but there were positives today and the summer could be fun.

Just looked at the highlights - seems like a mass of empty seats.

Probably not that unexpected really

A taxi driver mate of mine said he'd never known it so quiet on a match day, like you say though it's not really surprising today.

Having said that, this is the most excited I've been about a close season since Davey Boy took us up at Cardiff. I just hope this one doesn't turn out as shockingly shit as that one did.

Listening to the commentary you wouldn't have thought Saiss stood out at any point. The only time they talked about him was about shooting from distance and how he shouldn't, but funnily enough went quiet when he was seemingly heavily involved in two chances.

We won't send bright on loan - too much risk of him not getting played as he still needs to sort Himself out off the field. So talented, I really hope he makes it with us

Don't get me wrong his shooting was shit, he really shouldn't do it but the rest of the game he stood out with Graham, Bright and Silvio imo. His reverse pass for one of Bright's chances was sublime.

I agree on Bright, i've never seen anyone so gutted to have missed when he didn't score especially the second time.

I thought he did well last week but apparently he was shite according to the radio commentators. Maybe they just don't rate "foreign types" who don't run around like a headless chicken showing loads of "pashun"

Bright is SO casual when finishing, which is fair enough if your Zlatan, but when you've never scored, missed 5 sitters, and appear to be woeful at finishing, you can't really afford to be so causal.

I've not seen any of Silvio's 3 games this season, but unless he'd sign up to a play as you play offer I wouldn't extend his deal. The rationale being he's played something like 17 league games in 4 years, we'd still need to sign a quality left back anyway as we can't gamble on his fitness, so unless he'll do that it's not worth the risk.

Silvio is class and I would love I us to take up the year option but if we don't I fully understand the reason behind it.

Have seen Silvio in action once, & he is clearly better than anything else we have played there, but if you cannot guarantee at least 25 games a season out of him then would understand why we wouldn't extend his deal.

As long as we sign a proper replacement then I will accept not doing so - if we don't then it will be a major cock up.
