I hope Lambert does well, I hope he gets some of the youngsters involved. I hope he brings some much needed solidity to the defence and coaches the defenders how to defend but most of all I hope he bins this counter-attacking-no-pressing nonsense permanently and plays attacking football.

Doherty has been our best LB over the last 12 months. Not a high bar I grant you but clearly that is his best position and one we need to put him back into as we have no-one else any good there. Silvio might be the answer but I've never seen him play so couldn't say. CBJ isn't the answer. He's just a slightly better on the ball Doherty with the same poor positional sense but not as good going forward.

Very good read, I became a Dad the other Sunday so have been totally out the loop although was quite pleased with Lambert's appointment when I got a text about it. Am I right in thinking he did his coaching badges, or some of them, in Germany as part of the ex players program?

Performances on the pitch say otherwise.

He may ultimately be the better player but he isn't showing it right now for us.

Doherty is bloody awful mate. I've genuinely never seen a full back performance worse than his vs Leeds. And I've been watching us for 28 years. I've seen Mark Rankine at full back.

He had a few OK games last season and started this one sort of alright. He is seriously substandard though. His defending is laughable.

CBJ is miles better than him.
