O'Neil aka GONe

Agree completely with Tredman, he's an excuse merchant. When he first joined it was Lopetegui supposedly leaving us in a mess and the lack of fitness. When it all goes well he's running around Sky and getting acclaimed. Now he's been found out he's back on the excuses.

I would say in fairness that pretty much all managers do it with the very odd exception (Postecoglou perhaps).

We've had Pep moaning about Mitre balls against us and Klopp going on about the wind in one game and not counting Neves' goal in another because it was our first attack of the half.

My all-time favourite of course is Paul Simpson blaming Elvis when he lost a game as Preston manager.

Doesn't make it any easier to listen to of course.

Even the best of them do it yeah, Nuno went on about Lee Mason after that dreadful loss to Burnley in lockdown for one example. It's the frequency of it and the nature of it which can be frustrating. Inexperience and a bad transfer window he has an active role in (even if that is to just be a yes man for it), they're not valid excuses. I'm at the point with him where what he says in general I have little time for, probably how you were with Lage who you similarly like to go at for hogging credit and never accepting fault... once you can see someone's an idiot and taking you down there's not much they can say to help. :D

I think the difference with Lage was that his drivel a) didn't even make any sense, it was incomprehensible and not even recognisable English and b) was visibly pissing off the players to the point that some of them weren't even trying, or left because he was such a wanker.

But the end result is about the same. We'd have gone down under him and we'll go down under O'Neil if he stays much longer.

I think the situation has spread to a point it’s almost unrecoverable, I think we’re teetering on that edge. Great scenario for Saturday, win keeps us in touch but probably buys Gaz 3 matches. Lose he’s a gonna but leaves us adrift. Personally I’d be ruthless let him win but still sack him.

Don't worry lads, Clinton Morrison says we'll be fine and nowhere near the relegation spots.

I am actually a fan of Morrison and feel he brings a different type of voice and journey as a pro to many pundits, but he has seen the league table hasn't he!?

A lot of pundits (including Morrison) are in the camp of 'their fixtures have been difficult' - not sure how a run of Fulham (a) Bournemouth (h) Everton (a) and West Ham (a) appearing over the horizon is considered a doddle but hey-ho

Could be worse he could be making excuses like this.

"The long pause in the game [when the linesman was injured] may have been a factor.

"We are a young team, the players have maybe not seen that before.

"After that point, Millwall seemed to get some momentum. Then in the second half we never really got going."

Scott Parker after Burnley lost at Millwall this afternoon.

Classic weak manager under pressure.

You could tell by his face when the chanting started yesterday...he ain't cut out for this

Mick got it a thousand times worse (we were shit in the Swansea game...but he didn't deserve that) and yet you knew he could tough it out. He wasn't going to turn it around but he could deal with the flak, no bother.

Not sure Gary can.

It’s called character which Mick had in spades compared to GON.

Mick certainly had his failings as a PL manager but you’d never question his commitment or character.

Mick was good for what we needed at time and did a good job until May 2011.
Part of being a manager is knowing your audience and saying the right stuff to appease the fan base, Mick was atrocious at it at times and often found himself at war with the fanbase far to often.

GON is a fraud.

Anyone outside of Wolves is suprised because “he did such a good job last season”.

No, he fucking well did not.

He says all the right stuff in front of the cameras and has turned Wolverhampton Wanderers into Walsall overnight. Plucky losers. Underdogs. We’re giving everything. It’s all fucking bullshit.

Unfortunately Gaz, even the thickest among us are working you out now. Same way Bournemouth did.

Clocks ticking.

O’Neil’s a fucking con man, a team containing Ryan Yates currently sits third in the Premier League while we sit rock bottom.
If that doesn’t prove to everyone that it’s not about the Coach nothing will.

Seen some accusing the fans of being fickle because they were behind GON less than 12 months ago, kind of pointed out that football is very much the here and now and sticking with GON now on that basis is nothing more than sentiment and blind faith. To add coming 14th isn’t what I call big credit in the bank either.
