O'Neil aka GONe

Fair, but I have zero expectation that we’d have handled his suspension at all well under GO (maybe goes without saying).

I didn't say we would. In fact i said we may well be one of the teams relegated. But my prediction of 28-30 points being enough now looks very sound.
Can you PM me the lottery numbers for this weekend please? TIA x

Simple really. He didn't want him and felt he had to play him because of his cost and he, like everyone else, wasn't suitable for whatever the fuck he was trying to do this season.
Ironically at start of season when we signed many comments were ‘why have we signed another cm’ and ‘good player but don’t need him’ and ‘more pressing matters’

Goes to show again hindsight etc

Whilst we would’ve been likely down without Cunha, we would’ve struggled as well with no Andre and what lemina was

Ofcourse could say with no Andre lemina would’ve been different, but who knows

You can see why it was asked at the time though. Wouldn't pay over £15m to fill a position we desperately needed and yet signed a midfielder for way more than that.

Great signing in the end but sums up the confused mess we are in the transfer market.

O 100% I’m not disputing that. I was also in the camp of it not being a necessary signing.

My point was more about people being wise after the event.

I’d be suprised if anyone thought at start of season that with 7 games left bottom 3
Would be done, for example.

Ridiculed? No disagreed with? Yes
No. Laughy emojis and everything.
Comes across very “told you so”
Yup.
Arguing it’ll take more than 30 points to stay up is fair. This considering it’s been needed just about every season since the Pl became a 20 team league.
Arguing more than 30 pounts would be fair. As would arguing fewer than 30 might be enough when simply extrapolating the then points total across the remainder of the season. That's all I done, seemed quite reasonable and so it's proved, probably.
We will probably get around the late 30’s points wise. If we only got 30 points where are those 8 points going?
Plus as argued last season Luton being relegated with games to spare probably means they fell away at the end as opposed to fighting for survival.

If Ipswich were within a win of us they’d be fighting right until the end probably picking up extra points.
But they're not, and haven't been accruing points at a fast enough rate all season to be within striking distance - especially since our current good run of form - which is what separates us.

Ipswich's 20 points from 31 games is why they're going down, it's only since our last win that our own points tally looks respectable - the promoted teams have been dreadful all season, Wolves were dreadful until VP took over...

Leicester actually might have been in touching distance still if they'd stuck with Cooper - he was doing okay.

Last summer's transfer window was weird. Overall, it sucked and they were off/on/off about it and we ended up with 4 keepers in the squad. Whatever you think of GON as a head coach, he wasn't backed properly. That's been a common theme with all our managers since the Nuno exit season (and probably before then).

The fact remains from 1995 until now almost every season has required a 30+ points tally to stay up so people were just using factual evidence to disagree with a prediction.
As pointed out the required points total becomes a bit skewed once the bottom 3 a relegated before the last 2-3 games.
Desperation for points to survive often yields a few more than playing for pride.
Once we got in front on Saturday you could almost all the Ipswich players heads drop as they knew it was done.

I was using real time facts to make a prediction. I wonder how many of those past seasons after 8 games played there were 4 teams averaging less than 0.5ppg?

If the bottom three weren't averaging fewer than 0.5ppg after 8 games, less than 0.75 after 16 games and 24 games and now still certainly under 0.75 after 32 matches.

The numbers will be skewed because they've been fucking shit all season. The last 4 or 5 games will only be a dead rubber because of the complete fuck up the first 34 games of the season were.

With a straight face can you tell me Leicester's points tally will be lower because they'll have nothing to play for in the final month of the season? You don't think it's got anything to do with the 16 games in a row they've just lost? In the middle of the season!

The points totals of the bottom three won't be skewed so much by having nothing to play for that it means they'll not break the 30 point mark...

They won't get over 30 points because at no stage this season have they shown a propensity to do so. It's not an opinion, it's just counting.
