Non League Football.

The play offs are a great idea, you only resent them in the seasons when you finish in the top position outside automatic. In their first season which is now 31 years ago (Christ I feel old) we did that by finishing 4th in the then Div 4, did the double on the team that finished 7th and finished from memory 11 points ahead of them. Ironically my son has the same name as the guy who scored their goal at Molineux - named after Moore I hasten to add.

Woking get a reprieve with an 85th minute winner (albeit against a club that had already been relegated)

Live to fight another day, but still in serious difficulty - if Barrow win their game in hand probably only 2 wins in the last games keeps them up

Rob Edwards managed to salvage his season at Telford. Some semi decent form dragged them away from the relegation places.

My second team Woking finally fail on the last day & are relegated to the National League South

A win would have kept them up, but was not to be. Disappointing as they started the season well, but fell away badly & the new Manager this year paid the price (even Woking legend Geoff Chapple couldn't prevent their drop).

With a load of ex EFL sides there it is always going to be tough for what (I think) is still a semi pro club

They've made a mess of the structure a level below though and introduced a Midland League across the width of the country. Currently Hednesford will be playing Kings Lynn and Lowestoft next year, but potentially not their derby 8 miles up the road in Stafford.

This has come to pass, absolute joke.

Now moved back North despite signing and losing players for the new season based on being in the South. Piss up in a brewery springs to mind.

Hednesford have appealed against the decision to move them back to the Northern section. They say there are two clubs more northerly than they are.

There are - Kings Lynn and Coalville, but general view is that the appeal won't be successful

Shaw Lanes resignation caused this late change. Going back to when I was involved in the non league set up, it can be very difficult to please everyone. Midland based clubs are often swapped around.

Barwell FC are a prime example, they are constantly changed around. But one thing that cannot be taken into account is late resignation.

Regarding successful appeal or otherwise by Hednesford, I would imagine Coalville would prefer to be in the northern sector.

Hednesford appeal rejected, players are leaving who have signed for the new season because they can't commit to the travel north, whilst those who have left because they couldn't commit south have got new clubs. Top work from the FA, mid table now the aspiration

I am not sure the FA can be blamed for this. It is impossible to legislate for clubs resigning after they had affiliated.

Perhaps you don't construct a Midland division that nobody wants in the first place?

Perhaps you don't put a side whose local derby is 8 miles up the road in a different league and cut off the largest revenue stream of the year?

If when someone pulls out perhaps you put the two clubs more Northern into the more Northern league? Including one in Norfolk whose squad won't be driven by league location.

Perhaps the FA shouldn't affiliate a club who don't have a viable ground, who then fold because they don't have a ground?

As I know you will be reading this Frank, the fixtures have been released. Hednesford's Bank Holiday double headers are against North Ferriby (Hull) and Farsley (Leeds). They've just transplanted Shaw Lanes fixtures to Hednesford. Nothing the FA/NPL could do though. Now playing friendlies with 12 players plus trailists

The Business is an absolutely ridiculous film.

Glen Tampon parodies that.
