Newcastle v Wolves (A) Part 1: Build Up

Newcastle have won 6 on the bounce. 7 is unlikely. The pressure starts to tell. Additionally the spanking may work in our favour. There will be some changes but I can see us nicking a point.1-1

Again i agree he hasn't been good at right back but that's where he is best, different player for Eng under 21's. Defends with ease, gets forward well and is a threat from right back. Lack of options he gets when he's on the ball doesn't help here though.

It makes you wonder about those west ham rumours #headsgonelikeafobe

It wont help one week being a centre back, the next a right back and the next a sub. Should hopefully now get an extended run in 1 position

Only a fool would think that. Anybody that's seen him this season will tell you he looks like he's lacking confidence and being stifled by the manager's instructions,

Pack the midfield and give Costa and Cav as little defensive responsibility as possible.
Those two certainly didn't do any tracking back that I saw against Burton. It didn't help that they still needed fitness but it's obviously not their game anyway. Same as Tex.

Teixeira might be lightweight but how anyone can question his workrate is beyond me.

Seems to me that to get the best out of the players we have we will need to play a 4231. This will then enable the full backs to get forward which they are clearly not allowed to do whilst offering protection to the defence, meaning the 3 Portuguese lads who aren't defensively minded don't have to do too much other than cover the full backs when they overlap. This though would mean Prince being dropped and Saiss and Coady acting as the two holders.

I think that's spot on TT. Could always play Prince or Tex off Bod depending on the opposition.

I think the team on Saturday is more likely to be set up not to lose after Tuesday's capitulation (at least in the eyes of the Walter Zenga). Surely he will approach this game with the Serie A mentality of doing everything possible not to concede.

We're more likely to see a team set up in the way Mick McCarthy set the team up away to the PL big boys than a team set up like Chelsea with Oscar, Willian and Hazard behind Costa. Though perhaps Walter Zenga will be a bit more gung-ho than Mick and play Costa behind a striker with two lines of four behind them.

What was the team for Birmingham away?....it will be that or close to it*

*Zenga thinking

This is not what I would do, but what I think Zenga will do:

Ikeme

Iorfa
Stearman
Batth
Hause
Borthwick-Jackson

Coady
Edwards
Oniangue

Mason

Bodvarsson

We'll get smashed if we play anything like Tuesday. Could be any score.

I would go:

Ikeme

Iorfa
Batth
Hause
Borthwick-Jackson

Saiss

Teixeira
Oniangue

Cavaleiro
Bodvarsson
Mason

ALL LIES. couldn't shut about playing 5 at the back on Tuesday....Dan is officially a 5-3-2 man

Hey, it worked for Colin Lee for a bit :D

I would not personally advocate doing this. I think he'll be tempted to though. Especially as a fair amount of Italian teams play three centre halves.

Can see Davey boy coming back to play in the DM role that he simply isn't suited to but 3 managers have decided over the last 18 months he can do it (despite never actually doing it well)

That's an awful team :(

I'd go:

Ikeme
Iorfa - Batth - Stearman(or Hause?) - CBJ
Coady - Saiss
Wallace - Tex - Cav
Bod

My team (which won't happen):

Ikeme; Iorfa, Batth, Hause, Borthwick-Jackson; Saiss, Coady, Oniangue; Cavaleiro, Mason, Bodvarsson

Maybe change Coady with Tex.

Mine -

-----------Ikeme--------------
Iorfa--Batth--Stearman--CBJ
------------Saiss--------------
-------Coady--Oniangue------
Costa----------------Cavaleiro
----------Bodvarsson----------

Round pegs. Round holes. Tex would leave us too open against a strong Newcastle side. Shelvey would have a field of a day bullying him. Obvious question marks over whether Saiss is fit, but if he is, he plays.

Wallace, Mason, Price, Doherty, Hause all on the bench.

Shelvey couldn't bully Steve Corica. If he puts his mind to it he can play but he is not going to 'bully' anyone.

Shelvey could bully plenty of people, he's a right dirtbag when he's having one of his stroppy days.
