I can confirm it is all my fault: I put him in my fantasy team yesterday...

Sorry.

Changing my team to:

---------------------Patricio----------------------

-----Dendoncker-----Coady-----Saiss------------

Doherty-------Moutinho------Neves-------Jonny

----------Traore------Jimenez-----Jota------------

Subs: Ruddy, Kilman, Vinagre, Perry, Gibbs-White, Cutrone, Ashley-Seal

With every day that passes not buying a proper CB in the summer comes back to haunt us more and more

Thought you weren’t keen on BAS?

Same team for me, though if Bennet is fit then Donk in CM ahead of Neves.

Problem is that given how long we tend to take to fit players into our system (Donck, Cutrone and Traore stand out in particular, nearly £50m worth of players there, hardly any league starts between them in their first 4-5 months) - Mythical Centre Half #1 would have been parked firmly on his arse had we actually signed him. And had we not got this rash of injuries all at the same time, he wouldn't be playing any time soon either.

Good players don't tend to be massively keen on that.

I'm not but he's travelling and who else should be on there? Vallejo I suppose but I've no appetite to pick a centre half who I don't want to use and actually, in what world are you ever bringing two centre halves on?

So that’s three central midfielders in defence then...

Does it? Or is this the first moment where we will properly short as we hit the back end of October. If Benno is fit then it doesn't change much in terms of using cover.

Worst case scenario is we are copying Man City and using DM's in defence (even though 1 of them is an international CB and the other has played plenty of times as a CB).

It's not great news as we lose a key player but the majority teams suffer when a player like that is out injured.

Neves better get his mojo back now, we can't really leave him out anymore

I worry about a 2 man midfield against the longstaffs, they'll run and run and run

Joelinton up against Vallejo and Coady is what nightmares are made of.

Only other alternative to DWs team is...

Rui

Saiss - Coady - Kilman

Doc - Donk - Moutinho - Jonny

Traore - Raul - Jota

Maybe they could chuck in Dave Edwards to increase the worry against our two Portuguese internationals.

What - Joelinton who has been absolutely fucking crap all season? Dear me.

Joelinton?! You sure?

You have seen him play? He's not a bad footballer but he certainly is not Mitrovic/Rondon II. In fact that's been a huge part of their attacking problems, they can't just thump it up to the striker and have him hold off an entire defence while everyone else catches up.

Yes I have seen him play. I’ve also seen a lot of Coady and Vallejo. You don’t have to be a lump, you Just have to be bigger than David Silva against Vallejo.

Yeah but I very much doubt the singer from Starship is going to play.

He wrote himself off for a good while last week.

I would hide under your bed and panic all day tomorrow then. They average about 0.6 goals a game, don't forget.

I would be rather more interested in the fact that their shite defence has to deal with Jota and Jimenez.

This isn’t strictly true though is it? Donk is an isolated incident (we were also wedded to 2 in the middle with Moutinho and Neves thought be instrumental to our play, rumours he was overweight and was late back from the WC not helping)

If we’d signed a CB with ability then he could go straight into the team. Boly and Miranda went straight in. One had ability and stayed in the team. The other did not.
