Newcastle 3-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Well that depends how serious the injuries are and when we get players back. Otherwise, feel free to drama queen.
We have very little attacking threat even with Neto on the pitch. I’d rather not watch a repeat of that or the Sheff Utd game for the rest of the season.

13th is the lowest we should finish, Palace are 14th and effectively 11 points behind us with 11 to play. (Bournemouth are as far behind in 13th but could easily win their two games in hand as they're against Burnley and Luton).

We aren't making 7th, that's always been cloud cuckoo land.

So get everyone right for Coventry.

I don't disagree that we look impotent with our 3 best forwards all out. But saying 'we're screwed' is a tad of an over-reaction, don't ya think? If they are all lengthy injuries then we might struggle for goals, but the only thing it probably screws us out of is a shot at Europe, which was highly unlikely anyway. If we can't get past Coventry with what we have then we don't deserve a semi-final place.

Flattering result as most people have said, with huge slices of luck for all three goals, but that’s football.
With some misfiring performances in the last couple of games, this type of result was always on the cards.
I thought that we had good periods in the match and pushed them midway through the 2nd half with a couple of reasonable chances from Sarabia and Fraser, but nothing seemed to drop for us and losing now several of our first team starters just added insult to injury.
Doyle was probably the pick for me and used the ball pretty well, and against Guimares too, who you have to say is a quality player, without him Newcastle are very ordinary
We have had better days so we can’t overly complain, but this was by no means a 3-0 defeat performance and we have to get over it and move on, hopefully the injuries are not too serious

Well Neto definitely isn’t playing next week. They won’t risk him either way even if he is “fit”. Seems a stretch for Hwang to play, Cunha still out. What a shambles
Neto looked like he was carrying an injury Wednesday to me, hobbling around at the final whistle.

I'll happily take today's result if it means we beat both Fulham and Coventry at home in the next two.

Didn't think we were dreadful, just second best of two very average sides. I do hope our season doesn't just fizzle out now.

The Fulham game means nowt, you couldn't get a more nothing game

Soft goals conceded and with an attack that was toothless never getting back into it. We have a squad of 14 reliable players and when the two best are out we’re ridiculously easy to play against. Doyle and Semedo pick of our players. Bellegarde has had 7 months to settle in and hasn’t - stop playing him there Gary, he’s woeful, it’s like starting with ten men.

Fulham have hit a bit of form but we could do with not getting into a losing mentality.
If two losses is all it takes to break us mentally, we deserve it.

We’re not far of the phase of just playing out the fixtures time in the league, next Saturday is 2 teams who won’t get Europe and won’t go down. So we’ve got zero incentive to go full pelt next week priority is the Coventry game. Not even got a duty of care to the integrity of the league as it’s a side in none relegation trouble or title chasing. Whilst they’re a league below certainty wouldn’t want to obtain any more injuries to the first team.
Bentley in goal, Doherty RWB, S Bueno C H, H Bueno LWB, Doyle & Traore CM, not sure how you rest the forward line but need to find a way.

It's not just 2 losses though, the games we've won recently have not been great performances, plus we've hardly any viable forward options.
I want us to go all in for the cup but we need to keep some semblance of form in the meantime.

How did we look as a back 4 when Toti cam off?

I think this is right. 12th/13th and a genuine cup run? Would've taken it instantly

Squad depth and what it says for future is concerning, but we'll have all of next off-season for that.

Just focus on Coventry and trying to be competitive in the league.

How the hell do you make a forward line with all of Neto, Hwang and Cunha potentially unavailable? RAN is going to be playing LW by default?

Problem is Neto injuries always seem to take longer to recover from than they should.
