We don't even need a tactical genius, we just need a guy who knows how to put round pegs in round holes.

I mean, if we can get a genius, great. All for that. But I don't think that's absolutely necessary to turn things around and get us fighting for 7th-ish again.

Is it really that spurious?

I'd say his CV is better than Ten Hag's.
That he theoretically is qualified for the job, no. It is a fact that it was Mendes who touted him for them rather than any sign that they were actually interested though

Genuinely thought Jeff had put himself in charge then!

JL's going to be on the club Taskmaster? Is big John coming back now Bruno's gone?? "Julen, can you get all these other people around the table to leave the club under a cloud in less than two minutes? You can use any insult you like and this camera here"

Lopetegu's Sevilla really poor so far tonight against Dortmund. Stretched at the back on countless occasions and really offering nothing in attack. If he is to become our next manager, he needs to pick himself up, as well as our players.

Pointless him being charge tonight. Players know he is off, essentially has zero authority.

Lopetegu, despite his team getting well and truly beaten by a Jude Bellingham inspired Dortmond team, given what looked like a warm farewell from Sevilla fans. He, himself, was clearly emotional.

He's confirmed in his post-match interview that it was his final match (not that we didn't already know). EDIT: Announced officially by Sevilla too now.

Also I know Twitter is never truly representative but I'm looking through tweets from Sevilla fans and I'm struggling to find anything other than regret that he's leaving. Pretty common to see fans blaming the board for reducing the quality of the squad instead.

Listened to the e&s podcast on this evenings dog walk. Keen as weak as piss as usual but Judah going in pretty hard on Lage but moreso Shi and Sellars

He looks and sounds fairly devastated about it all, tbh.

If he does end up here in the next few days, I do hope that it isn't too soon for another club - that we aren't to him what Spurs was to Nuno.
That's where I am too.

If it’s all falling apart and it’s not his fault. How is a worse coach on paper going to do a better job?
