Cooper would be an unnecessary risk. I think he’ll go on to do well in the PL but at the moment I think we need someone who the players will instantly respect based on their previous achievements. We need everyone pulling together again.

It's 100% nailed on to be Lopetegui. Basically confirmed as leaving Sevilla after the game today with Sampaoli taking over. I'll be amazed if we go in another direction.

Sevilla playing tomorrow I think v Dortmund

It does seem as though he is done there and will probably be in the UK for the weekend and be our boss for the game next week rather than v Chelsea

You can't knock his experience or pedigree, and at least he's a proper manager.

Hope he's not too conservative, though; be nice to get some goals out of this team

I think it was always was going to be.
Mendes and about to be available.
For the reason I said yesterday I'd be concerned taking a manager straight off an as good as sacking without a break

Hopefully if it is Lopategui a change will be as good as a rest.

Not that he'd come here, but you'd take Tuchel, surely?

Looking at a more like-for-like comparison, Hodgson going straight from Liverpool to West Brom worked out perfectly for them.

I was more referring to the slow death type like Lopetegui seems to have been rather than the falling out with the owners like Tuchel. Hodgson is a fair comparison though

Ultimately you don't get to be too picky when you're 18th and over 20% of the season has been and gone, and we have to use the squad we have for at least the next 10 games.

Thanks to Jeff for that one.

Right, he's going to be worse than 8 points from 15 games, is he?

Not even going to read their bullshit reasoning.

From the link posted by Langers..

"Lille's Paulo Fonseca, who previously interviewed for the Newcastle job, and Spanish former Liverpool and Everton boss Rafa Benitez are both believed to have shown an interest in the role."

I wanted Fonseca when I fully boarded the Lage Out train in April/May. I don't think he'd leave Lille so soon.

We'd score plenty under him.

The lack of goals is a worry, but the lack of defeats (until this season) is very attractive

A bit Glenn Hoddle with all those draws last season.
