I can imagine, if Lopetegui has approached us, he has potentially gone “I like X, but I don’t like Y and Z” and we’ve compromised on whatever Y and Z are.

I’d be disappointed if that’s the case though. I mean, for as much as a ballbag Lage was I’d like to think Raul has more about him than ‘yeah managers a dick, don’t fancy it so il go chill somewhere until someone else takes over’
Depends on who made the final decision. Could have been either of them, IMO.

I would think it's fucking Sellars and the stats wankers like Pearson off out of the club.

Putting proper coaches in and letting him manage the team as he sees fit and not 'what current trends in the game are'.

The end of this fucking nonsense of putting ball carrying deep midfielders at 10 will be very refreshing.

I can’t imagine it will be linked to Mendes or Gestifute so this is probably correct to some extent. We didn’t have those guys around when Nuno was here, did we? Was it a very Lage thing?

Can you imagine being the prime candidate for a role and being able to wait on it until the club have made everything worse.

"Yes I'd like to talk about the salary being tripple what we previously agreed, yes I said tripple."

Pearson was around with Nuno, as were some of the tactical issues like the horseshoe of doom and the Donck position in his final year.

Not that he or Sellars have anything at all to do with tactics obviously

We did have the stats people but not as prominent as they are now.

Oddly enough (and this is a bit tin hat) it coincided with Nuno's decline, playing Donk in this odd wide right role and the introduction of an American set of investors who had a reputation for destroying an Irish club with their stats rubbish.

It's the reason Lage was just the yes man they needed and the experiment has failed.

Back to a proper manager who won't take that crap

It may refer to tactics anyway, he worked under a DoF at Sevilla who tend to have a hand in transfers, so that can’t be what “sporting control” is.

If this is true, then I’m about 1000 times more optimistic than I was this morning.

It’ll mostly be nice just to see the squad injected with fresh ideas which they’ve needed for about 18-24 months now.

Much as I would like it to be true I can't see there's a cat in hell's chance of us getting Monchi. But, if it does lead to a qualified DoF coming in then have at it.

Wasn’t it Monchi who got Lopetegui, not vice versa? Don’t think he would come here
