Molineux Extension

I still wonder if Fosun have a hankering for a new purpose built stadium elsewhere.

This is my feeling as well. No idea where so can't answer that bit.

The Steve Bull desperately needs doing. It's a nightmare getting in/out of the stand.

Getting into and from J1 is an absolute ballache. I hated going back in there at the start of last season but I’ve got used to it again now, even so it really does need doing.

I dont see that so much, youd have to factor in the cost of land along with having to do all sides of the stadium and creating an infrastructure. It would be a bigger financial outlay and they would not be blind to the negative PR that would produce.

The threat of out of town would likely to be a bargaining chip in council discussions.

I wonder if he's read my comments ;)- there isn't enough time to procure a Contractor in the current market without having already got to the planning stage. Its sort of what I do.

I do wonder how much this Bridge has to do with it, I don't think Fosun would take kindly to the likely 'contribution' that the Council would require.

Still a bit of time by my reckoning, but they're pretty much at D-day now.

If you wanted to start in May you'd ideally want 8 weeks beforehand for pre-commencement conditions to be discharged, 13 weeks for planning approval with an extra week either end for validation and publishing the report, that's all still just about achievable but you'd want a public consultation right about now to give you enough time to build that feedback into your application.

That's going to be the bigger obstacle rather than procuring a contractor I'd have thought, could easily be someone working alongside the club already providing cost and programme advice so that everything is a lot quicker to get underway as and when the time comes.

Sounds to me like he's angling for some other investment from another party to make it happen rather than it be a purely Wolves project.

I don't see that as looking for external investment at all.

Hes fed up with the Council playing silly buggers expecting Wolves to pay for loads of improvements, and Wolves don't feel thats fair as the Council need to realise this is the only Private investment going on in the Town so need to bring something to the party themselves.

What exactly are the Council meant to bring to the table? What have they got to offer?

If the Council are being unreasonable then a decent planning consultant would easily expose them. If they're trying to get a S106 agreement for some works then pretty sure they're only allowed to request works that are necessary as a result of the proposed external development, so they couldn't just hold the club to ransom over some fairy tale wish list.

It's probably a bit of both, the council not being as cooperative as they could and Fosun wanting to share a bit of the risk with some partners.

I've got to say they're brave for wanting to put significant investment into Wolverhampton as a city

The Council have laid out in the paper what they want, obviously the Club see differently and expect the Council to pick up some of the Bill as they see that as unreasonable.

It just shows how far away they are from getting this moving, I would expect the Club to play hardball on this. W-ton is desperate for some private investment (after the continuing failure of their own schemes) and the club know they are holding the Aces with no real urgency to develop (besides an impatient fanbase)

Given our performance in both the league and in Europe, surely the button will be pushed for expansion starting in the summer?

I sat in the Steve Bull lower last Thursday and, my god, that place is grim. As for the space (lack thereof) when you're sitting down - were people really that much shorter in the early 80s? Never again.

Yeh have had similar experiences sitting in there. However, many other grounds are just as bad, The newest section of SJP for example is awful in some sections.

Sounds like we're building another temp stand, and making minor improvements to the Steve Bull.

Looking at the U23 stadium as well according to Tim in the athletic. Sounds about right.

Temp stand in between south bank and steve bull

Edit - just seen this was a couple of days old, finger on the pulse and all that!

Unless they move the tower for the big screen then they'll only get a few hundred temp seats in that space.

Still think they are walking before they can run. No stadium expansion can be mooted until people like Nuno and Sellars are tied down. As crazy as it sound though our greatest asset is Adama Traore.
