Why would they loan to us? They could loan to a sensible club with actual progression plans for players.

If he wants to go, he'll go, we saw what happened when we stopped that tosser from doing so last Summer. Plus I don’t see them knocking £40m or thereabouts quick profit back.

He’ll probably fetch around £40m in the summer. If he stays and has a good year in the Championship he won’t be worth a lot more. Fine to keep him if there’s plenty of money for a rebuild but that seems unlikely and £40m would go a long way to building a squad capable of promotion, though whether we have the right people to recruit and manage such a squad is open to debate. We’re not really in a position to risk such a sum on one player who could get injured. Put it another way would we spend £40m on an 18 year old? Obviously it’s a hypothetical question as no such player is joining a Championship club.

They’d be mad to spend it all in one summer and leave nothing in the bank if we get it wrong as there’s a high chance we will. I think a lot of players will want to leave, certainly the Brazilians plus a few others so there should be enough to rebuild the squad and keep some in reserve.
