Manchester City (A) 14.01.2019

Reality is Boly gave the ref a decision to make when he didn’t need to. It was in a none dangerous position and could have stayed on his feet. IMO it’s a red just it’s not a nonsense howler of a decision.

The studs are quite clearly NOT raised.

It is an absolute load of fucking hairy bollocks decision.

On the penalty, if that's a foul on Sterling then Sterling commits the first foul by pulling on Bennet's shoulder

Stonewall red card but total dive from Raheem, IMO.

Bolys red is the same as Jagielka's first game of the season, that's the game these days

The way I'd like the game to be the red isn't a foul and neither is the penalty. As it is, still don't think it's a foul - you can tell Carragher doesn't either, but it is a penalty to use the horrible phrase they do now he felt the contact and went over

I don't think Boly was a red, daft tackle though and deserved a yellow and a stiff talking to by both the ref and by Nuno. Sterling is a diving bastard but so is Salah, Jota, and plenty more.

I am sorry but I won't agree with it at all.

It's an abominable decision.

Show your studs and you're getting a red card. It's been that way for many, many years.

Not a chance. Jota won the ball for Jag's sending off and Jagielka clatters Jota.

Boly wins a loose ball, it's not as if Silva had full possession.

No it’s not come on it’s debatable so I’ll give the ref the benefit of the doubt.

Once he connects with the ball he's on the ground. It's not even a tackle it's a loose ball which Boly wins.
Irrelevant. The tackle and the winning of the ball are not the reason for the red card.

Boly should know that by diving in like that he was at risk of a red. We don't have to agree with the modern interpretation of the rules, but we have to accept that that is how things work now. Same as how linesmen don't raise their flag now until the offside player goes near the ball (yet people still whinge about the fact it was a late flag) we've just got to get over the fact that things have changed and make sure we play to the current interpretation.

Think I need to put subtitles on for ya ya toure... has he has a stroke?

It’s not the tackle though, he wins that - it’s the follow through he’s sent off for.

The rules talk about challenging from the side with excessive force. He doesn't challenge from any side it's a loose ball which Silva chooses to run towards. Boly's force isn't excessive either - appropriate for what he was trying to do.

Traore is on for Jiminez for the second half - need to do something different (& he is)

Not worth just persevering with what we were doing

Then you have to ban going to ground completely then as it's a physical impossibility to tackle going down and not show your studs
