Man Utd 1-1 Wolves - Verdict Thread

The midfield 3 worked well, but it think we were greatly helped by Man Uniteds set up. So not sure we will have the same success with it in future matches. Mane with Tolu and then Arias in their for the time being and then he can fight with Bellegarde for that spot when he’s back. Should be enough threat in their to beat Derby’s record.

It shows how shit this league is that they are 6th.
It's a weird old league this season. The top two (I find Arsenal incredibly grim to watch, and City aren't anywhere near what they were at their very best - but clearly the best two teams), then Villa who've massively outperformed xG, Liverpool who looked like they were going to have to sack the manager a few weeks ago, Chelsea who are a mess with a shit manager, and then United, who we all just saw.

Liverpool in 4th are only 6 points above Fulham in 12th, very rare you see that in the Premier League.

Annoyingly if we'd bothered having a bit of a go against crap Forest and Brentford* teams then we might still be semi-in touch.

*Clearly they're pretty good at home but are rubbish away and we didn't even try

A point, we win our first bloody point since October 5th and unlike the other 2, didn't feel like a defeat!

Lacking lots of quality and plenty of silly mistakes but actually played well by our standards.

Mane was excellent, fair play to the lad. Great header for the equaliser from Krejci. I just knew when Hwang lost that ball arsing about that it would result in a goal.

Are we the first side to fall foul of the keeper holding the ball too long? Then a silly booking for Tchat for waving his imaginary card.

Sa pulled off an amazing save from, errr, Mosquera!

Audible booing from the away end when Tolu was replaced by JSL then the latter's song rang out.

If, IF, we could beat West Ham on Saturday then things would feel a little better but we'll see.

And him not letting Doc back on when play had restarted and then gone out for a corner again.

It was decent and that makes me even more annoyed at the cunts tbh. It's one thing busting a gut against United, another entirely doing it against a Burnley or a Brentford. Shows the cunts for what they are

I'd love us to sell that wanker JSL (Just Stand Looking) to Wham and then drag him down with us in April.

What a reprehensible shithouse cunt he is.

We know what Hwang is. He's shit and I hate what he represents but Larsen needs the O'Hara and Johnson treatment. Him treating the club and fans with the contempt of these performances cannot go without consequence.

The rest of the team have given us a tiny bit of pride tonight. If they can do it for 8+ more points is the aim.

All ifs and buts, candy and nuts, but:

- Don't throw away four points against Spurs and Brighton due to cowardly subs (which cost you your job, Vitor)
- Hang on to a draw at home to bloody Burnley, who are shit, and weren't even trying to win the game
- Actually have a go against Forest and Brentford at home when we NEED to win (let's just say you get a couple of draws)
- Don't concede right after scoring at Arsenal

8 points there. We'd be on 11 now. Still atrocious, still very likely to go down but you've got a puncher's chance if you get January right and fix some of the damage done in the summer.

Too late now.

That doesn't mean I'll write tonight off though and say "oh why couldn't they do this against X", we've had FUCK ALL to cheer about for two thirds of an entire calendar year, enjoy it.

Bit disappointed with the away support that there were no (from what I could hear from the comfort of my sofa) how shit must you be, your not beating us- chants.

As for Anorim, there were plenty of praising articles for him (finally) changing his system. Changed it back to today and they were awful. Shaw bringing it forward and our own misplaced passes were the only time that they looked dangerous.

What’s Ridgeley done to deserve that? In some eyes he may be a handsome fella but he’s no George Michael.

Hats off to VP who didn’t give Mane a single minute, bizarre.
For someone who was so clearly desperate to have a go at the Premier League, the way he threw it all away (in a fashion which means no-one in England will ever hire him again) was truly next level bizarre.

I mean he's got his money but he had that anyway before he joined us. Odd.

I may be in a crowd of just one, but Lima would have been better than any of our right back options this season. I was surprised that VP threw him under the bus earlier in the year and sent him out on loan. Even just as a forward facing RWB option he’s better than Doc, Hoever or Jackson put together.

I was fine with loaning him out on the basis that:

a) The manager didn't fancy him, and at the time the manager had earned faith in his decisions
b) We would sign someone proper to replace Semedo, even if it wasn't like for like
c) We would loan him out to somewhere where he'd get proper experience

Instead:

a) As it turns out, he rode the wave of a good run of results and not much else, and did bizarre things quite often
b) Narrator: we did not
c) Porto B is a fucking stupid loan. How is the second tier of Portuguese football preparation for anything, they're also a terrible team at that level, and they're going to want to develop their own players, not ours

I thought there was enough there to work with if we had a manager who would actually use him. Definitely better than what we've put there for the majority of the season (Rodrigo is better, but he isn't fit and he also needs to have a few steak and chips meals a month)
