Man City (H) 21/9 Build-Up & Match Thread

You can't seriously be blaming Adama for not being able to receive a bad pass??

He's been bad, there's no doubt, but don't exonerate the player rolling it ten yards away from where he actually is.

Tony’s right - Adama just doesn’t seem switched on or be aware how to move to make an easy pass - strolling around the pitch - totally lost.

The front three have been fine when we've got the ball forward tbf. It's just they've had very little chance to do anything.

I don’t think Podence or Neto have done much tbf. Raul is chasing shadows. Moutinho + Neves completely overrun. Vinagre isn’t good enough & then the usually reliable Coady & Saiss have been wobbly. Boly has been alright.

Nuno needs one hell of a half time team talk!

No point playing 3 up front if we can't get the ball (the few times we have a stray pass just gives it away)

Need a 3rd midfielder to try and get a foothold in this game & push them into their half as they have played virtually all of the first in ours

We are too passive in midfield. The CBs are all trying to step up, but that’s where it ends. As bad as Saiss was with the pen, he’s also got further forward than either of our CMs.

It's our pace, intensity and directness on the counter that's caught the likes of City out before, unfortunately that's missing and not sure what it's been replaced with.

Gotta say, even though this kind of line up should hopefully be a thing of the past soon, this match is making me miss Doc and Jota

Well, with that half behind us, I think 0-2 is about as good as we can have managed.

Still not out of it, but man, we need to make some serious adjustments.

Neto needs to drop into midfield with podence playing off Raul

I mean, that's just classic Adama. He almost never moves for the ball.

If Marcal is out for any period of time we will need a LWB o have seen enough of Vinagre

Tbf, they are just bloody good aren’t they. We can’t get the ball, and when we do someone is up their arse sharpish.

Having said that, they didn’t create anything at all until the penalty, which was awful, awful defending by Saiss.

City came out with teeth bared, but we’ve been properly poor.

We were starting to put a foot on the ball, but Saiss’s brainless challenge for the penalty knocked that right out of us. Rest of the half, we were lucky to get nil.

I can take losing to City, but we look like a promoted team caught in the headlights with nothing in our arsenal to hurt them

Neto needs to drop into midfield with podence playing off Raul

He's been doing that the entire game.

Mou and Neves do not have the mobility to chase around a team like City, Donck for his faults has been sorely missed.

Traore looks a bit lost at RWB. Hopefully shouldn't be an issue after this game, mind.

Midfield totally overrun. Thought Moutinho has had quite a bad half. Big second 45 needed, got a feeling City will comfortably see this out. They have been playing some nice stuff - De Bruyne dominant.

so Traore is a car crash at wing back we know but he is also the main threat. Get him up the pitch and bring Donk on at RWB and hope Moutinho and Neves wake the fuck up because they are playing with lead boots on so far
