Loan Window Thread

Yannick Sagbo the latest link

Just heard this as well from a Hull fan.

EDIT: @SkySportsPeteO: Wolves are set to sign Hull City striker Yannick Sagbo on loan. #wwfc #hcafc

Hopefully if he comes in, McAlinden can go out on loan and get some more experience.

Interesting - O'Rourke is one of those sources who is usually correct.

Better version.

Clarke is finished at Wolves. If as the G&S says we're looking to sign Kamara on a short term deal too, he'll go out on loan to a club that's closer to his level such as Blyth Spartans.

I'd laugh if we signed 2 strikers in a week.

Kamara doesn't set my pulse racing but Sagbo would be a good signing. If he's good, there's a 3rd verse to the Sako/Dicko song.

Brum Mail reporting that but say we may have an issue getting a Work Permit for him

He has played the required number of games but there is a question mark about Sierra Leone's FIFA ranking

Kenny Jackett’s pursuit of free agent Kei Kamara depends on the likelihood of a successful work permit application and does not spell the end of his quest to explore the loan market.

Sierra Leone have slipped to 75 in the latest FIFA rankings which means he is not due an automatic permit for the top 70.

Kamara, 30, must now have played 70 per cent of competitive internationals over the last two years.

“If it is something we can pursue we will know within the next few days. We were looking to get a work permit to give him perhaps a short-term contract to further extend his trial but unless we can find out whether we can get that there’s no point going any further,” said Wolves boss Jackett said.

“The rules are pretty stringent now. The way things are going if you want to bring someone in as a top-level, top-line international – then fine.

“It does seem as if they are working to make that a little bit harder to get people in.

“When he started his trial (last week) Sierra Leone were 69th in the world and two days later they are at 75.

“Up to 70 and I wouldn’t say it is automatic but it is more recognised. So we need to find out whether it is a possibility or not before we pursue.

“He has a lot of pace, power, good heading ability and even as an impact substitute we feel he can make a difference in the final third of the field. He has a lot of experience and generally everywhere he has been he has started very well.”

Jackett has an eye on October 1 to maximise any 93-day loans to January.

“We are always looking and if we can improve our squad, we will. Somebody being able to come in and stay right through is appealing, rather than breaking it or suddenly they have to go back at a key time before Christmas when there are a lot of games.”

Jackett said a move for Southampton’s Emmanuel Mayuka is a non-starter.

“We’ve had conversations, we have watched him and he is available but I wouldn’t say he is a realistic target.”
.

He's always looked decent but only 2 goals for Hull

Someone who can actually control a football is an improvement on the options we've got at the moment. From what I've seen of Sagbo he offers a more physical presence and I think someone like that could bring the best out of our central 3.

From what I've seen he seems to have similar attributes to Dicko so could be good from that point of view

Reminds me a bit of Marc-Antoine Fortuné. Big, fast, strong and shows flashes of technical ability but not a prolific goalscorer. Dicko makes our formation work with the way he stretches defences but Sagbo would be a very good impact sub IMO.

Will shortly be changing my user name to Norman Deelo in anticipation of a contract.

I quite like Sagbo but doesnt strike me as a very good goalscorer unfortunately..

He does look the type who should score goals has all the attributes, does he get in the box enough, is he brave?

Hey andyc224 don't knock Blyth Spartans a team I played for the standard is higher than you think! However I had tried to LC the benefit of seeing him play for us on the merits of his performances this time around and whilst I freely admit not seeing him play as regularly as most on here watching Sundays game via tv he looked short of confidence, footballing intelligence in terms of movement off the ball and energy levels something people have identified before. I would point out that in my playing days (20 years ago) as a striker at Blyth and elsewhere I knew confidence is a huge factor in goal scoring so when chances come it comes instinctively on how to put them in the net! I do know that I would have been quicker off the mark as I was close to sub 11 seconds over 100m!

Yep. Looking back at the Sierra Leone fixtures/results they have played 7 games since 7/9/13 and Kamara has started 5, came on as Sub for one and only missed out in one game so on the "appearance" part of it, despite them now being 75th in the World, he should get a work permit
