I have an issue. Ref saw it and called it a yellow card. It wasn’t “clear and obvious”. VAR shouldn’t be involving themselves.

The ref then watched it again and changed his mind, so that surely indicates there was an error?

Ref saw it. Gave a yellow. it was slightly high and made worse by slow motion (which should not be used when reviewing a decision). It was the sort of tackle that happens in most games, split second late with no intent but important thing is ref’s decision is yellow card…VAR should leave that sort of thing alone if the threshold is clear and obvious. If ref hadn’t seen anything maybe different.

Probably not, that's a separate point though.

I can't have any sympathy with Nelson there, an excellent season from him but that's a silly decision and I don't think he can complain.

Prove intent? If that type of tackle happens in every game most teams would run out of players very quickly. Has the opponent been endangered by Semedo? Yes end off it’s an error and a clear one
