Nuno had run his course at Wolves and the last season in particular was some of the worst football I've ever watched. Reminiscent of the "Wolverhampton one-one draws" era under Hoddle. Slow, boring, low scoring, defensive, turgid shite. Not only was it dreadful to sit through as a Wolves fan but other fans were openly mocking how boring we were and were praying for us to go down so they didn't have to suffer it too.

But....... That doesn't mean he wasn't a brilliant manager and gave the best football I've ever seen at Wolves before that though, with the best players to ever grace the Molineux turf. And he rightfully goes down as one of the best and most successful managers the club has ever had. Plus he was a great bloke and a real gent it seems. Covid definitely affected him badly and the restrictions it had on him seeing his family. He just seemed to retreat into himself during that time.

But his time was definitely up at that point in that last season. That said I'd have no problem with him coming back here and managing Wolves again. Doubt that would happen under Shi though given what's been posted above.

Absolute nonsense, one tricky season after 3 brilliant ones, calling for him to go after that is entitled in the extreme, as I said earlier he should have been given at least half a season to see what he'd got. Shi was and is the problem.

And what did that cunt Shi do with the money . . . spend it on a kid who wasn't fit for purpose.

Reading these last few pages has made my blood boil with rage at Shi - I detested him before . . . not sure what the right adjective is now.

Regarding 2020/21 don't forget we lost Raul who who was the one player we couldn't afford to lose, especially with Jota gone. Also Raul's injury deeply impacted Nuno.
 
Yeah on nights, meant Sevilla and as YW says it came from the JP book. Apart from my Catalan/Andalusia faux pas the rest holds. He also lies, saying we couldn't afford to give Nuno a new contract and nobody was spending money that Summer...he signed a kid for £35m.
 
He signed a three year deal in September 2020 anyway.

Might have to get a copy of JP's book - although not sure it's good for my health given I cannot stand Shi anyway. The bloke is a monumental prick and I CANNOT wait for him to have zero association with Wolves.

It is forever the way that whoever is in charge at Wolves eventually feels the wrath. I didn't see too many moaning when we got promoted or when we looked a decent outfit in the top half of the Prem. and getting into Europe. Too much too soon I suspect.

I totally get the frustration with the last four years though but Shi has made it abundantly clear that we have to be self sufficient. None of us knows what his paymasters have said to him but you can bet there is pressure on our owners from the Chinese Gvt. I only say this to bring some balance to the discussion. Sure Shi has made some horrendous mistakes and judgement calls but I still remember the times when we were insolvent and a real disaster.

I honestly don't see what the alternative is at the moment. We all the know the course we are on but finding a new buyer doesn't happen quickly and then finding the right new buyer something of a gamble. Fosun could sell / appoint someone else and it might make things worse. Of course, the gamble is that it might get better but none of us can be sure of that.

The passages from JP's book don't make pleasant reading but I can well believe that Shi wanted a more expansive style of play and a manager who could deliver it. Nuno was fantastic for us until he wasn't and we will probably never know what he demanded and what actually did happen. His gift obviously didn't sit well with Shi but at least it showed the character of the man and that he did care. Shi needs to get back on message and admit some of his mistakes. Only then can he start to repair some of the damage and personally, I think it is important that he does so because I don't see Fosun replacing him while we remain a Premiership side. It may well take going down to oust him.

I think they then got a rather rude wake up call in terms of how much money it takes to survive in the Prem and it does appear it is a price they are balking at paying. Covid obviously played its part in our turn in fortunes.

The 'Fosun out' brigade, I get that but there's plenty as bad and some worse.

This again it’s not a case of “better the devil you know” everything in football is a risk it’s more damaging though just playing it safe

So it was a good thing to get Fosun as owners instead of Steve Morgan. Obviously.

Intially yes as they showed ambition and got us to a very healthy position.
Are you suggesting we just stick with them because there’s a slight chance a new ownership might be worse?
In reality at this moment in time they couldn’t be doing much worse.
Our business is football and we’re very bad at it currently.
They’ve ousted managers of any quality, diminished squad quality year by year, taken us to the brink of relegation this season as it stands.
Not to mention allowing the stadium to be a relic whilst alienating long serving fans etc
There’s nothing apart from maybe balancing the books that they do well as owners.
The balance sheet is about to get £100m hit in the summer to.

I'm not suggesting we stick with them, no.
I'd suggest they thought they could make money out of Wolves, then realised it wasn't quite that straightforward. Fact is we are small time in comparison to 'the big six'. Small ground, relatively small fan base, competing for the money with 20+ other clubs of the same size. Not that attractive to prospective buyers as 'a brand'.
That's what it's about, money.
