Live Match Discussion 2024/25

I mean Plymouth beating Brentford is a big upset. Rubbish Championship team beats a decent PL team (more than decent at home this season).

But I guarantee not one person on here would have said 24 hours ago that the TV companies should have picked that one.
Probably not, but I would have said it would be a damn sight more entertaining than watching City go through the motions and half the first team win 8 0. Even if I was a neutral I'd have said our game turned into a decent tie.

But then they've got the tie of the round tomorrow.

Picking the upset is hard, showing Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal regardless of opponent will give the broadcaster a full stadium and a good tv audience.
To much spreading out of the games for me and playing it over 5 days is daft. Broadcaster have the problem that showing live football isn’t a novelty anymore and people will watch it regardless.

Yep the big upset tomorrow 🐑

Are we actually more likely to travel or are folks just cynical?

If I got my hands on it then the Cup schedule wouldn’t look anything like it does this weekend. However, they’ve taken the decision to blow the whole thing up and spread it across five days and god knows how many kick off times. That’s at maximum inconvenience to the attending fan (singular tense literally for the Sheff Utd game). So, pricing that in already, one of the things I can’t work out is how they don’t have any games at easy times to watch on the telly for me over the weekend? Why so many games at high noon and no true evening game on Sat or Sun? Why does the timeline today reach its climax with the round’s least attractive tie at only 15:30? Is staging Hull V Doncaster at noon on a Sunday a genuine attempt to draw a crowd low enough for the Guinness book of world records? I can let the broadcasters off not being able to pick a decent upset (thought Everton v Posh was a good pick for example) but the overall schedule looks like it’s been devised by someone with no knowledge of football whatsoever.

Despite all the chat about the magic of the cup is a thing of the past, I'm actually looking forward to the Tamworth v Spurs game.
It's properly set up for an upset. Flakey Spurs side, plastic pitch, freezing conditions. Just hope the tiddlers can stay in it for a while.
Obviously now it's gunna be 5-0 Spurs.

They’ve done pretty well so far. No chances to speak of for Spurs. Just need one of those long throws to cause some carnage and nick a goal from it!

Tamworth have played well first half. Defended pretty well for the most part and created a few opportunities for themselves.
You'd expect Spurs to turn the screw second half and will have greater fitness, plus of course they have a lot of firepower on the bench. Still it's been enjoyable so far

Tamworth doing good, they look quite disciplined so far. Tottenham meanwhile seem nervous to me, I would have expected them to try and play more on the front foot. You'd think in the second half fitness levels are difference. Wonder if they'll end up having to bring Son on. Werner also isn't really the kind of player I'd want against this opposition, you would think Solanke would be far more effective.

Spurs have been shite considering the gulf between the two teams. They've made one or two opportunities, which is the bare minimum, but done nothing with them.

Aye you've got to give massive credit to Tamworth for the organisation, work rate and tenacity. They've been really good, really busy and done really well to still maintain a threat on the break.

Spurs have been shameful. Slow, lazy, uninspiring, absolutely no invention
