Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Watching Sheffield Wednesday vs Derby, Josh Windass has just put The Owls 2-0 with a goal scored from his own half having spotted the Derby keeper outside of his area.

3-0 now

Telling Mrs Lupo that Gazza is waiting in the wings for The Rams

It’s not his fault, poor guy, but if I ever met Windass I think I’d keel over laughing. What a fucking surname.

I wanted Paul Simpson, Nathan Blake and Alex Rae years before we signed them and Ian Taylor, Neil Redfearn, David Johnson and Jim Magilton before we never signed them.

Also saw both Robbie Earle and Chris Coleman against us in Division Three and it was blindingly obvious even as a kid as I was back then that they were headed for bigger things.

Seem to recall being linked with Magilton every few weeks for years, think he was the equivalent to wanting a commodore 64 after my mother had splashed out on a spectrum. :(

I suppose we'd only have hoofed it over his head, we basically didn't bother with central midfield for a decade or more.

Craig Short was another, could have had him for very little money off Notts County when we were busy messing around with the likes of Rob Hindmarch and Paul Blades.

Hindmarch and Blades, ugh, Shirtliff (who I'd not really heard of) was a massive upgrade for the time he was at Wolves. We really seemed to struggle around that time for CBs

I didn't mind Derek Mountfield too much and pre-injury Shane Westley was genuinely good (and the hardest man in the world) but Madden, Blades, Hindmarch and Stancliffe were all utter nonsense.

We should always have had Mark Venus at CH, wasted at LB (and I'm still annoyed that we fucking paid Ipswich to take him off us, what on earth are you doing. Bloody McGhee)

Decent pundit, too.

Shout outs to Jamaica. 🇯🇲

I didn't understand at the time why we let Venus go (I wasn't very old so didn't know much about these things).

We made so so many poor decisions during that time.

McGhee never liked him much because he's a fucking idiot. Only played so many games in 96/97 because we had loads of injuries.

Theoretically Sedgley was a better version of the same thing, in reality no he was not.

Yeah Veno was a favourite of mine, could play LB, CB and defensive midfield, had a great left foot. Mountfield also I had a soft spot for, obviously he was 103 when he came here and his knees had gone but even so, still better than the tat you mentioned, classy CB in his pomp.

Not allowed on UK TV due to him allegedly selling his complimentary tickets for games whilst working for ITV.
Eh, get your money I guess.

Tell you what, was fearing the worst at the top of your post. Don’t take my Robbies away!

He got a bit done over there. He had a load of freebies and gave them to family/friends...then they got sold on to a brewery who pulled some kind of publicity stunt with them and FIFA weren't happy so ITV had to take action. Obviously your name is on them, you take responsibility, but he didn't tout them himself.

Two additional things:

1) Tickets for the 2010 World Cup should really have been worth less than £0, the worst tournament on a footballing level that has ever and will ever exist

2) He's a born and bred Stokie, not really Jamaican :D

Eight caps for the Reggae Boyz! I think just the one goal tho.

His accent certainly gives away which Isle he is really from. 😂

They qualified for France 98 and roped in as many through parentage as they could. Fair enough.

His one solitary international goal was in the World Cup.
