Presumably to see if it was a red card offenceI thought VAR wasn't allowed to intervene on second yellows? So why did they wait for a VAR check before Tierney gave him the 2nd yellow and sent him off?
It needs taking away from that organisation altogether.Embrace away. Simple fact is it won’t improve. Ever. Unless the PGMOL officials are all replaced. They are appalling.
Problem is maybe Tierney thought it was a straight red, which if VAr then overrules, player escapes a second yellow and stays on the pitch.Tierney should still have made a decision first surely, then VAR comes in and confirms if it should have been a straight red or not. As we're not privy to the conversation whose to say VAR didn't tell him it was a yellow as he's not made a decision on field first, for all we know he might not have been booking him.

Of all the current problems with var, this one is way down the list.
Would this be the case? Surely not?Problem is maybe Tierney thought it was a straight red, which if VAr then overrules, player escapes a second yellow and stays on the pitch.
VAr can't downgrade reds to yellows I don't thinkWould this be the case? Surely not?
