The win today means we don't really need to care, IMO.

Personally I'd rather see Saints find a way to survive as I don't see them improving significantly over the summer. Way too many gaps in their squad.

Yeah, I'm kind of thinking I'd rather Leicester were kept below us than saints drifting further away

I don't give a shiny shite whether we finish 13th or 14th. I do care that we don't finish 18th though.

Leicester are rubbish. People need to stop thinking they'll improve. They've been worse than us for 18 months.

Their striker situation feels more dire than ours, which is some going really.

That's silly Alan. 3 different strikers have scored 7 league goals between them, versus our 0

Yeah, I mean, that’s fair. But given the choice I guess I’d rather have our group than theirs, perhaps even in spite of that.

Stockholm Syndrome innit.

Weird season compared to the last 10 years (maybe more).

The top three are all pretty good but no absolute behemoths who are obviously going to win all the time.

4th/5th/6th all have glaring weaknesses. Chelsea have spent the most by miles but are a mess. Spurs are 4th and have lost 9 out of 26, we only lost 9 in the whole of 2019/20 and finished 7th.

Some commendable seasons from Brighton, Fulham and Brentford but you sense they may well come up short in the end.

Everyone else is roughly the same standard - can play well, can be awful. No obviously appalling teams who are ludicrously out of their depth and are clearly down in all but name by Feb/Mar.

What we have compared to a lot of others around us is fight and heart, which we never ever had under Lage. Today is a game where six months ago we're 2-0 down at HT and we may as well all go back down the pub or back home.

All true. I also think Newcastle will fall away now for the rest of this season.
As well as the fight and heart you mention, which is a joy, we also have the best coach for in game management I think, his tactical subs don't always work out obviously but they do more often than not. Think he also has that trick of making the players more self confident.

Yeah it's a weak league this season. Man U are third and their not particularly amazing. And how many of the current Arsenal side would get in the peak Wenger era? Just Saka really.

I don't think it's weak at all.

It's good to have competition and talent is better across the board from all teams.
Couple of teams uinder performing but when you look at the spend across the Division it would indicate the gap between 7th and 20th is not that much. Pop a poor manager in charge and it makes a huge difference - see us & Southampton for the finest example of that.

I think we have won 1 game less than Brentford for example, who are comfy as hell in the top half. Difference is we had zero clue what to do when 1-0 down before Boxing Day.

Spurs are 4th and they've got some poor players. How many would we have here? Front 3 and maybe Perisic? City and Chelsea have the best squads by far but for whatever reason it's not working out for them. Relatively speaking in City's case. How many Man U players would get in the Fergie teams?

This makes me feel a bit better about losing to Liverpool in the week.

Although you wouldn't have Varane's defending there from your drunk mate at 1am.

That, on the other hand, is just a top class counter.

I really dislike Liverpool, but this is really, really funny.
