Yes people saying he won the ball first don’t understand the laws. High speed out of control and you can see the ankle bend.
First view at full speed just an old skool challenge but when you watch it back, he lost control of the ball and was out of control when he went in for the challenge so a red was being shown all day. I think the ref wanted to show a straight red but relied on VAR to confirm it.

Even Roy Keane has said it's a red card, and I'd imagine he has rather a loose grip on what's acceptable on a football pitch.

Rio Ferdinand on Twitter saying it looks worse in slow motion and should be played in real time. Trust me Rio it doesn’t look any better at full speed either.
Baffling how many people on Twitter think it’s not a red.

VAR showed it to the ref in real time a few times

Cowards Challenge done to either protect yourself or hurt your opponent. Red card

Graham Potter gets away with a lot. Comes back to the point trying to play good football always buys a few extra games in the bank before your fans turn.

Numerous people have pointed this out to him.
It’s the old “good tackle in my day” attitude or “he gets the ball first”
Firstly it ain’t your day anymore and ball winning is of complete irrelevance

My word only just got around to seeing Newcastle penalty last night. It’s just an absurd decision. Another game in which Newcastle spawn a result after being given ludicrous penalty call. No surprise Bruce thought it was fair call. I wouldn’t hold your breath on Mr Durham calling out Wilson as he’ll argue there was contact.

Contact was about the same as Neto's so if his was dive so is Wilsons...VAR is getting worse, on top of the usual nonsense like time and marginal decisions its now getting a lot of decisions wrong

I don’t see any contact at all in the box and if any claims it’s continuation foul they can do one. An ex ref will try and defend it but it’s just absurd.

In for the Europa only a the moment. Could be kicking his heels until March (although he may appear in the FA Cup)
