Live Match Discussion 2018/19

Villa stinking out the place but still in touching distant of the play offs because everyone else in that league is terrible too.

I dunno, they're closer to QPR in 18th than they are Boro (who are indeed awful) in 6th.

It's all very well saying they could make up the points, we used to do that every year and we only ever actually achieved it once (02/03). They've won one out of eight. Albion, Stoke, Derby, Blues and Forest are their next five.

Well exactly. Because they are playing the teams around them they only need to fluke 3 wins out of those 5 and they’ll be right in there. Stoke are terrible, Derby love a bottle and Villa are the sort of team they’ll fail against, anything can happen against blues. Forest and Albion aren’t world beaters of late.

The odds suggest they won’t, as there not going to suddenly start winning games when every time I see them they are useless. But given how bad their form has been, there’s no way they should be as close as they are, yet they’re still in the mix

Boro and Derby will be a minimum of four points ahead with one and two games in hand respectively after the weekend. Brizzle will also have two games in hand and 9 points clear.

I'd love to see Pulis fuck it up but I don't think Villa are far from being completely out of it.

Villa are 7 points behind 6th place Boro and 7th place Derby. Both of those have a game in hand too. Seven other clubs are within 3 points of each other and that increases to 9 clubs if Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday win their games in hand. That means that they have to win a mini league of up to 11 clubs whilst making up either a 7 or 10 point gap between now an the end of the season. It's not impossible but I'm not going to be putting any money on it.

Just seen the Ajax disallowed goal. If they are spending three minutes to sort that out, then fuck VAR. Just let the game flow...

Not keen on this Spurs selection. Vertonghen is not a LWB, Foyth is nothing like up to this level yet and Aurier is fucking wank.

I know a lot of people never noticed at the time but can i just congratulate you on your cascading levels of degradation there, it's almost poetic :)

Watford through, Leistner contrived to miss an open goal from two yards near the end for QPR.

It's impossible not to like Chris Hughton on a human level. After a while though his teams always become about as thrilling as industrial aggregate.

What are we, nearly half an hour in? I think I've looked up at my TV about two or three times.

Good finish Knockaert, Scott Malone not covering himself in glory though.

Derby have been appalling, have they actually gotten into the Brighton half at any stage? Every time I look up it's either Brighton in possession or with a set-piece.

2-0 Locadia.

Like you say Brighton have had this by default as Derby have done nothing.

I put on Sports Network Ontario hoping to find some ice hockey, and they are showing the glamour FA cup tie between Wimbledon and Millwall, and the mic beside the pitch is turned up too loud and you can hear the Millwall fans shouting abuse with absolute clarity. I'm surprised they haven't turned the mic off, it's pretty bad.

Listened to that on 5 live - sounded like a real quality game :hmmm:

The commentary clearly 'covered' the abuse as none of that came over.
