Blackpool is missing off here, but still valid. Interesting stat - Bolton came closest to messing that up, and I'd totally forgotten Millwall were only just promoted too.

If Rotherham win the play offs then all 3 sides who were relegated from the Championship will go straight back up.

I think what is even more interesting is how well those newly promoted teams have performed with Sheffield Utd, Millwall , Portsmouth Plymouth all finishing top half or just outside the play offs, Lincoln , Ebbsfleet and Flyde all making the play offs.

I stand by what I said a few weeks ago, even if we bought no-one (other than signing up all the loanees, so we have the exact same squad as we have now), I'd back us to beat pretty much anyone in the bottom half, home or away. Obviously you aren't going to win all of those games (though it'd be nice) but I would consider us to be favourites in the vast majority of them.

We shouldn't be close to the bottom three, there are some extremely poor teams knocking around. Remember this is a season where Palace - who don't exactly have a superb squad, it's competent at best - had 0 points and 0 goals after 7 games and they've stayed up easily.

Wolves vs Arsenal at our place, who starts as favourite?

That's where my head is too. We don't have much premier league experience so survival has to be the target.

This reminds me of all those clamouring for "championship experience" at the start of this season...

Indeed. We just need good footballers, and good coaching. We have that and that’s only going to improve.

Crazy that City can and probably will get to 100 points. Someone needs to tell Pep to cut out this tippy tappy nonsense, guy is a complete fraud without Messi

Look, the likes of Jota and Neves might have played against Villa, Derby, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Forest and Sheff Wed this season, but it's a whole different ball game when you're facing Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Huddersfield.

:icon_lol:

I’m genuinely excited about how our players will take to the Premier League. Less games, even a winter break next season I think ? They will be fresher. I think it will suit some players more so than the championship did. Let’s be honest, Costa, Cav, Jota, Neves should never have really been playing at that level anyway!

Nuno was clever enough to make sure the majority of Championship games were played on his terms with his system of play controlling proceedings. How that works out in the Premier league is for us to find out.

Shrewsbury playing the first leg of their playoff tonight.

Despite them being bellends at the start of the season I'd like to see them get promoted

To put it another way, plenty of players haven't been able to make the step up to premier league football.

I'd be happy with 17th but hopeful for a lot more, equally I won't be shouting for Nunos head if things get a bit rocky

Whoever thought they'd live to see a Lingard/Sanchez pairing up front?

Ruddy, Douglas, N'Diaye (if we kept him), Bennett, Cavaleiro, Afobe (if we kept him), Miranda and Saiss have all played top flight football. Neves, Jota and Boly have all played Champions League football.

This isn't a callow squad, it's not the same kind of issue that it was in 2009.

I'd rather be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised than optimistic and disappointed.

I don't do groundless optimism :D

We're actually quite a good team. I know it's odd, but you should embrace it.

I've got Charlton vs Shrewsbury on as there's absolutely nothing riding on the United game.

Zyro on the bench. Both teams having a decent go but still goalless.

Oh I do, I put £50 on wolves to win the league this season before we kicked off. I never bet on Wolves.

I'm just not sure we'll be around 10th, players like traore, cairney, Maddison etc looked good against us and did damage. Prem players will be better
