They looked better on Friday night, not great but at least resembling a Klopp team again. Is Langerak in goal again?

Back to Liverpool for a second, why did Rodgers identify Lallana as his #1 target if he wasn't going to be starting these kind of games? It's all such a muddle. You certainly wouldn't give him any more money given his transfer record, only Sturridge (very injury prone) and Coutinho (now not in the team) are successes out of hundreds of millions of pounds spent.

Langerak is in for Wiedenfeller, yes, I've never been a fan of Wiedenfeller, real nothing keeper who doesn't seem to have any great strength anywhere in his game, Langerak hasn't really had anything to do thus far.

On Liverpool, I really like Lallana but i've no idea why Liverpool signed him. The biggest headache Rodgers had last season was fitting Sturridge and Suarez in the same team, easy done when he went with his diamond midfield and only real quality they had to sacrifice was Coutinho as Sterling was used as the number 10 more often than not, even then Coutinho managed to get decent game time in the deeper positions against weaker opponents.

You'd think with Suarez leaving it made sense to switch back to more of a 4231 that he'd used at Swansea and early on at Liverpool, Sturridge up top, Coutinho number 10 and Sterling goes back out wide, sign yourself another winger who can come straight into the side and you're at least back to a reasonable starting 11, then you've got the rest of your Suarez cash and the Champions League money to improve a couple other spots, a proper deep lying midfielder, centre half and fullback would've been my priorities.

Silly from Markovic but the Basle player should be banned for that play acting. Shambles.

Such moronic play. He had a peek and everything. No choice for the ref but a red card.

Sorry, but that was blatant cheating. Yes the arm was thrust out, but contact was minimal.

I don't think he touched him Alan, or if he did he's touched his cheek. No need to go down like he was shot. Embarrassing.

Unless Markovic' finger went into his eye (which is just about possible, I guess) that was a blatant piece of play-acting.

Makes sense but he did buy those players, he just doesn't trust them. Can, Lovren and Moreno, something like £45m there? But none of them are anything like fixtures in the team. Of course his hubris about "not doing a Spurs" looks even more ridiculous and arrogant now, I'm not sure who he thinks he is because he has made a host of truly appalling signings even before this season (Aspas, Alberto, Ilori, Borini, again well north of £30m, contribution absolutely nothing).

ITV's next beat of replay while Andy goes mental seems to show that the finger does hit the player's eye.

Sorry, but for me, play-acting or not, that's a blatant red. He's had a look and then immediately swings his hand at the guy's face. After having had the peek he should know where the player's face is and be smart enough to avoid it.

Embellished, sure. But stupider than it was exaggerrated.

If you throw a punch and miss is it still a red card? Of course it is. So do one Andy

My mate is trying to defend it as saying Lazar "misjudged" the distance.

Surely that can't be a real defense for such action?

I can see what he is saying, put your arm out to keep the defender away from you. I don't think Markovic actually tried to do that and was just plain stupid. Not sure it was a red mind but i can definitely see why the ref gave it as i'm not sure he can see how much contact there is.

Hmmm

I waved my arm behind me to hold a player back but misjudging the distance meant I made contact? Bollocks defence.

Just seems an odd stance to take, surely a misjudged tackle is just as much a red card as a violent one if it's bad enough?

Fair play, that's a beauty.

Townsend creaming himself though...

Fuck Gerrard. That was class.
