Not wanting to get too bogged down with it on this thread but he started on sky as a football commentator was fucked off to boxing as Martin Tyler was/is far superior and has recently returned to football.

Well, you don't end up doing American soccer coverage for no reason, I guess.

That wasn't a very good half of a Merseyside derby.

In other news,Guidetti has scored for Celtic.

Howard at fault again for a goal, so weak.

Gerrard freekick goal, don't think it should have been a freekick tho.

Balotelli has to be the worst piece of business this summer.

Balotelli has to be the worst piece of business this summer.

Just doesn't fit this team at all. So static and he isn't good enough to make up for it. His value has been steadily decreasing since 2010 (while he's at his supposed peak) for a good reason.

Robbie Earl at halftime pointed out that "he scores great goals but isn't a great goal scorer". Think that's a distinction a lot of people can't (or simply don't) choose to make regarding him.

Smashing strike. Good news as I'm not sure the world is ready for a Jozy Altidore goal, a Fernando Torres goal and a Liverpool clean sheet all in the same week.

it's funny, until the 85th minute mark Liverpool had been in total control. They were playing some decent stuff and I thought Balotelli was actually playing quite well just before he was taken off but there was always that sneaky feeling Everton could equalise!

Lucky for Rodgers that they have a pretty easy run now in the league, at least in theory.

West Brom (H)
QPR (A)
Hull (H)
Newcastle (A)

You can't spend the money he has and continue to turn in performances and results like they have been. They always look shaky at the back - less so today as Everton were poor, but you're still never confident of them shutting the opposition out - and going forward they're so laboured. Seven points from six games is a poor return and arguably slightly more than they actually merit. If they don't improve significantly on that then Basel will turn them over in midweek.

I will say they looked a lot more secure with Skrtel in instead of Sakho. He's limited but at least you're not expecting an error any time the ball goes within five yards of him.

Wigan losing again. I wonder if Rösler will be under a bit of pressure when we play them next week.

Roesler will have been told in no uncertain terms that promotion is essential considering the money Wigan have spent. They were awful a few nights ago.

Steve Claridge on BBC radio: "Darren Bent's got quite big, hasn't he? Has he not put on a bit of weight? Look at the size of him... wow. He's a lot bigger than when I last saw him. A lot bigger."

Dougal.... these cows are small. But the ones out there are far away.
