LIVE! Match discussion 2014/15

It was a pretty dire tournament to be fair. I am struggling to remember many memorable matches. Ghana v Uruguay maybe. After that I am really struggling to think of anything. The final was absolute garbage and might as well have just been over fifteen rounds and held at Caesar's Palace.

Ghana v USA was a good game. Apart from that, there wasn't much else. Germany and Argentina stuck 4 past a few teams IIRC...

South Africa v. Mexico was good as well. Uruguay v. Germany had moments.

It was a tournament of shitty open play offset by some truly fabulous goals.

italy 90 was dull as hell..defensive and not many goals..one of the worst for me..i saw a few games in 1978 when i was just 3, but 1982 was my first real tournament when i tried to watch a lot

I enjoyed 82 and 86. I think you are a little harsh on Italia 90. Lots of memorable stuff. Finished my last day of school and then down the pub to watch Argentina v Cameroon which was cracking stuff. England's games against Belgium, Cameroon, and (despite the fucking result) West Germany were good entertainment. The big downer for Italia 90 is the final, which was an absolute crock of shite. Dreadful game.

agree with most of that TBH..the final in italy 90 was truly worse than shit..and yeah 82 and 86(even more so) i enjoyed a lot..of course 94 when sweden got the bronze is my favourite of all time..

Just seen Holland contrived to lose 4-3 at home to USA, from 3-1 up. A USA team missing some regular players at that. Ouch. Hiddink's presiding over a shambles at the moment, the way it's going they're going to do an England at the Cricket World Cup, fail to qualify even with a format designed to make sure none of the big teams fail to qualify.

Not to do USA down at all, Klinsmann has proven himself to be an excellent manager in international football - I still think he's a bit wasted outside of club football tbf, his spell at Bayern wasn't that instructive given the issues surrounding that collection of players at the time and I'd be intrigued to see how he got on elsewhere - and they're a perfectly decent if fairly stodgy team. Holland should be beating them though, especially at home and especially from two goals up with 20 minutes to go.

The Dutch defending yesterday after going 3-1 up was some of the worst I've ever seen.

Looking forward to this.

Juventus are going to have to defend at their very best to stand any chance of stopping those front three of Barcelona.

I hate Lichsteiner and Tevez, but I also hate Neymar and Suarez... I love Pirlo and Buffon, but I also love Messi and Iniesta...

No idea who to support for this one.

Juve for me.

Buffon deserves a Champions League medal. An absolute legend of the game.

Agree, but they will have deserved it if they can keep that Barcelona front line quiet throughout the game

They've got the power in midfield to try and cut the supply.

Nothing you can do though if Messi, Suarez or Neymar conjure up a bit of magic.

Not sure whose bright idea it was to give Alex Song a punditry gig. Fair to say anecdotes are not his strong point.

Messi just looks like he's ready to stroll around a Sunday morning game, relaxed as fuck in the tunnel.

Tevez should do better there.

Iniesta's barely created a goal all season...steps up to the plate when it matters.
