I don't think he's shown any aptitude for managing a team though, that's the thing. His tactics have been odd - particularly a weirdly defensive line up at home to a West Ham team on the beach when they needed to win, Karl Henry on the left wing multiple times - and there have been a scattering of thumpings. You could understand giving someone that much rope if they were showing clear signs of promise, he hasn't shown any.
