They've given Scotland a difficult time, too.

The biggest issue facing bigger teams in CONCACAF are the refs and the pitches. Most of the smaller nations here simply can't afford (or don't want) to keep their pitches in good condition. Jamaica's, for example, isn't a football pitch at all, but a cricket pitch (or whatever cricket calls their fields). A couple of summers ago we had to play Guatemala in Guatemala in 100+ degree heat on a swamp of a pitch with a ref who was content to let tackling go back to the 1980s. It was a shitshow of monumental proportions and we ended up losing 2-1 on a last minute free kick (which was an excellent one, to be fair).

The talent level of smaller nations here may not be great but they're athletic as fuck more often than not and there are some challenges to deal with here that I don't think are present to the same degree as they are in UEFA's "minnow" countries.

The amount of pace England have potentially in attacking positions is enough to scare teams. Sterling, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Welbeck, Walcott are all very quick. And Rooney is still rated y other countries even if he gets unfair stick from England fans. I quite like the way the England side is shaping up at the moment
