LIVE! Match discussion 2014/15

Didn't watch the Albion game live earlier but fair to say fortune was on their side.

1) Somehow playing Craig Dawson and Chris Brunt as full backs resulted in a clean sheet

2) The first goal was clearly offside, not even a difficult decision

3) Yacob really should have been sent off before half time at 1-0

4) Brown Ideye has somehow turned into something resembling a footballer

They do get some luck sometimes. How can you appoint two managers in the space of six months in Pepe Mel and Alan Irvine who are so horrifically out of their depth and not have it have any real long standing impact on your status? Fair play to Pulis though who has got some excellent results so far even if it is pretty poor to watch a lot of the time.

In other news:

Since September 14th, Blackburn have beaten the same number of Premier League teams as Aston Villa and have scored just one goal fewer against PL teams in the process.

That's a beautiful stat :D

Chiles always make out they're so hard done by and its utter bollocks. They got up a few years back on a shitty number of points and before that stayed up under Robson (Robson!) on 34. Jammy jammy bastards.

There was something on Twitter earlier too, saying Albion have scored more goals in the FA cup this season than Villa have in all competitions.

My favourite one, until Villa scored v Chelsea, was Bournemouth had scored more league goals in Birmingham than Villa this season.

This Villa vs Leicester has been brutal up until Villa scored, but the game has picked up now, decent chances at both ends, Given is playing well, would like a Leicester equaliser to set up a big finish

Bit of a howler from Schwarzer there, gets down to make the save, then fails to smother it and flaps it into the net

Sunderland are so bad, all over the place. Poyet has got them so badly organised its embarrassing. Bradford by far the better side.

Bloody hell, Mejias is the missing link. Ape man.

I hope they get relegated. Poyet is a total dick.

they must sack Poyet in order to play like a team or with any structure..they are not pressing the opponent team anymore, they have loads of time on the ball, and bradford were the opposite, pressing sunderland very high and they had zero time on the ball hence not getting a pass together

They played a 442 which in reality was a 4-2-4 leaving Larsson (by no means an orthodox central midfielder) and Bridcutt (someone who likes to play deep) in the middle together. Johnson and Alvarez are not the type of wide players you need for that formation, good technically but both pretty flakey.

There were so many gaps between and in front of their defence, scary really. Poyet is so overrated and his Brighton side weren't even that good.

agreed, they didnt even seem to have a midfield, bradford was playing the ball around easily

And bear in mind Bradford are a very direct team with two tall, physical forwards (Stead can be when he wants to be anyway). They don't tend to work the ball up the field but they were allowed to because of how awful Sunderland were without the ball

He's made a good save, singular.

You sound like Brian Clough with that Polish keeper that stopped England qualifying for the world cup ;)

He's okay, nothing special and that was a bloody good save. Likes to distribute the ball quickly which I like in a keeper.
