Matt Lowton looks like an awful passer of the ball.

Odd how he's gone backwards. He was superb in his first season at Villa. Lambert doesn't strike me as a good coach at all though. I thought he was alright at Norwich but he's such a sour, negative bastard at Villa. Shows in their play as well, no joy in it at all.

Fucking hell. I begrudge floppy even a single second of managerial happiness. Good goal though.

Lambert's landed on his feet there. With their dismal record in recent seasons he's landed a new bumper contract? Entertainment and top half finishes don't seem to be on the agenda at Villa Park anymore.

Yeah, I really do not get how he earned a new deal. Crazy scenes. That loser Hutton got a new contract too off the back of four ok games having done literally nothing for two years. It'd be like if we recalled Johnson now and then gave him a new deal. It's a strange club at the moment.

Fer starting the Villa counter.

I'm not sure how the "we need to consolidate in the Championship" brigade could explain how we couldn't give either of these teams a game as it stands.

Fair point. QPR are pedestrian and poor, and they are miles better than Villa so far in this game. Two rank bad outfits.

Why does Guzan punch so often? Can he not take any pain for the team?

QPR were pap last season. I'd have backed us to beat them 12 months ago.

We'd be ok against these two but the issue we would clearly face at a higher level is scoring goals. We wouldn't be able to keep that many clean sheets and the squad at the moment wouldn't get enough at the other end. But obviously we'd sign better players, just depends if they were on the Steven Fletcher scale or the Stefan Maierhofer scale.

I'd like to think that we'll look outside of the box rather than picking up relegated players from Burnley, QPR and whoever else goes down with them. I don't see why we couldn't build a team that can at the very least compete with the dross on show tonight.

I would love someone like Charlie Austin, think he's quality.

I think we'd need four or five real quality additions to help us stay up. Centre back, right back, centre midfield, striker, another wing too I suppose. But the momentum we would carry from the previous two seasons if we were to go up would no doubt see us get some positive results early on too I think. Especially with the football this team produces.

These two are easily (along with Burnley) the worst sides in the division
