I used up my free article on the Ivanhoe Line. It was reported by Network rail a few weeks ago that it won't go to Leicester but in the Governments hastily arranged (because a decision had not been made) 40 page document yesterday it stated that it would. I'll wait for the dust to settle and a real plan to be announced as the Manchester Airport tram plan shows that they don't know their arses from their elbows.

I stand to be corrected but it was mentioned yesterday that work on the Northern section had not commenced. The work I see each day will be part of the section that heads to Handsacre.

Interesting that it’s “just” the section from Birmingham to Crewe that’s being flogged immediately. At least the eastern leg, and the section north of Crewe, might still be salveagable by the time the election rolls around - although I am now convinced that this zombie government is going to push it to Jan 2025.
