Leicester 0-0 Wolves We've been roobbed Verdict thread:

Exactly, Penk.
Why didn't VAR award us a penalty?

i haven't studied the rules, but, does VAR only apply if the referee requests it, or do they monitor and inform him of a possible problem ?

What happens if there is a foul/handball/offside in the build up for the goal, that nobody spotted, say 10, 20, 30 seconds before it? Where is the line drawn.

The handball has to be an assist I believe. So if yesterday that ball had hit Boly then a Leicester player got a touch before Donk scored it would have stood (I may be wrong, I often am but that is how see the ruling. Either a goal off a hand or a goal set up by a hand ball is not allowed but an accidental hand ball somewhere in the move before the assist is fine and dandy)

The ball hit his head, dropped to the top of his shoulder... never hit his actual arm, he was still in the air when it happened. Hardly consider that an assist. Its just like the jesus goal that was disallowed because sterlings shoulder was judged to be a few millimeters in offside... absolutely ridiculous, all rules should be in the spirit of the game. I have yet to see a corner goal being disallowed because the ball was a few millimeters off the line before the corner, as it often is

Has to be in the final phase.

It did hit his arm, absolutely 100%.

It did hit his arm, which is why it was ruled out. Equally, was correctly ruled out by the letter of the law. In both cases, it's the rule that's wrong not VAR.

What does that mean in bold? If you are saying when it's not in the D, I've yet to see when it's not touching the line and even if it isn't it's not as if there is a big advantage by moving the ball a milometer forward.

Just seen Glenn Murray get struck on the hand from a free kick but nothing ever given or even looked at for that. The rule should cover all handball in the box whether for the attacking side or the defending side. They havent thought this through very well have they.

Did it lead to a goal?

Has to be in the final phase.

What are they classing as the final phase? A timed phase or number of passes? Surely the final phase of the goal is the assist and then goal. Any intervention by the other team surely ends that phase.

1 disallowed goal has confused the fuck out of a lot of people

This is how I read it as well. Obviously if there was a deliberate handball somewhere in the move before the assist then it will be given as a freekick in the usual way.

Kodjia handballed in the box too (I don't think it really was a pen, but it was certainly MORE of a handball than Willy's).

Treating identical offences differently - as in is it a foul, or isn't it - depending on whether you're attacking or defending is stupid. But they can't change it now this season.

I would prefer if they did change it now. Take the lesson from this 1 incident and act quickly.

not sure how other folks viewed it, but the replay i saw was inconclusive that Boly had handled. probably the reason it took over 1 minute to make a decision. if it was that unclear, then surely the original decision of a goal should have stood.

The link is on the last page Mick, it's pretty clear it hits him around the forearm.

The stupid thing is it wouldn't be given as handball anywhere else on the pitch, or if Willy were blocking a Vardy header at the other end, or if Donck had shot and Schmeichel had turned it round the post.

Final phase is assist and goal.

So I was right then? Ball hits players arm...opposition get a touch...ball then put away means the hand ball wasn't an assist. Ace rule
