Leeds (A) 18/04: Build-Up & Match Thread

We haven’t played any of the also terrible teams. The only one comparable is Burnley, and then possibly Spurs because of just how much of a shit show they are.

Leeds, West Ham, Forest. These are all significantly better teams than us. It really is blowing my mind how people can accept that these players are really bad but then not understand why they play really bad?
Burnley, Spurs and West Ham (last week) is what I'm talking about. I agree Leeds and Forest are a level above (although I don't think Leeds players overall are better than ours). If we'd looked like winning any of the games against them then I'd have some hope but even Burnley with their cack squad looked to have more energy. Yes I know Edwards wasnt in charge for the Burnley game but for all our huff and puff under Edwards, I'm not seeing any improvement in actual performances, quality or tactics wise.

On Rob on how we are setting up etc, I kind of get what he is doing in not wanting to mix things up as the club has been on Mission:Be Positive and risking big defeats etc wouldn't help that.
Up until West Ham that was on course in a way (dragging anything positive from our season is insanely difficult)
Obviously that 2nd half v West Ham just puts us all back in a shit mood.

Its why I hope the (R) next to our name is stamped at the earliest opportunity. Rob can then freely say my eyes are on next season, I want to see who here will fit into what I want to do.
Will he do that? Dont know but if he doesnt do things like chuck in Lima, then an utterly pointless end to the season for him.

Might be talking bollocks here, its my specialist subject after all but will see.

We've definitely improved, I just don't think that improvement is anything particularly impressive or to be applauded.

I think how bad we were at the start of the season has been brushed off slightly because we were almost equally as bad for large spells under Lage & O'Neil very recently. It's like capitulation fatigue. It really shouldn't be understated just how atrocious we were under Pereira though, the entire squad and staff just rolled over. It wasn't acceptable and I hope the stink of it follows everyone involved around for the rest of their careers.

Under Edwards we're just run of the mill shite.

It's crap but it is an improvement of sorts.

Before settling on Tchatchoua being the least worst option (in his opinion) there was a point in the Winter when a different player was at RWB every week and Lima still didn't get a chance. I think that tells you what you need to know re Edwards' opinion on him. Completely mismanaged his career so far, but we've got form for it.

The handling of Lima, to date has been appalling. If he doesnt get more than late appearance once relegation is confirmed then I am at a total loss with it all.

Clinging to what is left of the ability to look at things objectively

I haven't seen enough of Lima to say for sure but I think the writing was on the wall with the loan to Porto B. It really isn't a good level.

He might be utter dog shit and another waste of money. This isn't really about bigging up a player that isn't playing from my side but he came back from his loan and almost instantly we made it impossible for him to go out on another one by chucking him in to a game for a few minutes.
You would hope there was a plan for him after doing that, right now there isn't though and so I go with ok, he doesn't want to chuck him whilst we are being mildly ok in terms of results. Surely when the confirmation of our demise is in, pressure off and nothing to lose so chuck him in.
If not, why ruin his season for no reason whatsoever.

Rob Edwards is not the man we needed at the time, he’s not the man we need now and he’s definitely not the man we need next season.

If there’s a better option in the summer, I’d wave him goodbye in an instant.

He smacks of the mediocrity that sweeps through our football club and the large acceptance of the fan base of the utter shit show we have witnessed this season.

It is incredible that this unique bunch of failures have not have a rougher ride from fans that are usually super quick to voice dissatisfaction.

I think a large number of us have given up, or that’s how it feels.

Add the long list of mediocre employees who have done nothing worthy of recognition in elite global football, who are not capable of operating in a forward looking Premier League club and who look after their provincial mates whilst pocketing a regular salary. These include many in our coaching and administrative staff such as James Collins, Jonathan Hunter Barrett and Matt Jackson.

It also includes wannabe building contract recipients as Directors, John Gough and John Bowater. What exactly do they contribute? They couldn't even influence the Shyster to paint the bollards as that came from the fans!

The club even has the gall to claim that their coaches are 'world class'. Give me a break. Anyone ever heard of any achievements or recognise the elite status of the following at the highest level in the game?

Jonathan Hunter Barrett - Academy Director
Matt Wild - Director of Football Operations & Administration
Phil Hayward - Director of Performance
Max Fitzgerald - PR & Communications Director
Joe Hunt - Head of Football Development
Matt Cecil - Football Development Manager - Domestic
Shawn Briscoe - Football Development Manager - International
Nathan Male - Football Development Officer – Schools, Junior Clubs, and Tournaments
Dan Richardson: Football Development Officer – Delivery
Ryan Griffiths: Football Development Officer - Operations
Add Steve Davis - What's he doing now?

Bunch of hangers on and no hopers unless their mates like Kevin Thelwell can get them something.

Sadly, we have a long track record of not developing and integrating young foreign lads who do not go straight into the first team. The lack of elite international experience in our administrative and coaching teams is the main reason for that. Same problem applied to Nathan Fraser when dumped in the Belgian countryside.

The right back situation sums up Edwards’ dilemma perfectly. Play Tchatchoua and he’s not giving Lima a chance, play Lima and he’s not building for next season by playing Tchatchoua as often a possible. The reality is that almost all of us would like to see a completely new RB next season.

That’s one hell of a team hahaha. What a shambles of a squad we have

Bentley 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Persists with Jackson and the same front three that created nothing v West Ham 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s ok though because Rob “wants to take as many points off other teams as possible”. I’m off out - can’t be arsed to watch the car crash. Hopefully relegation is confirmed this evening!

Hideous squad, no matter how you try to polish it up it’ll always be a turd.
